General

  • Scenic site overlooking St Brides Bay
  • A working farm set in open countryside
  • Coarse fishing lake within easy driving distance

Plenty of mighty purty places are in Pembrokeshire. And one of the county's purtiest is St Brides Bay, the mouth of water and coast from Skomer to Ramsey islands – it's part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and has a few Sites of Special Scientific Interest thrown in to boot.

Overlooking this purty lot is Nolton Cross Caravan Park, a mile and a half inland from the hamlet of Nolton Haven, and set in open countryside as part of a working farm.

The kids have plenty of space for ball games on site as well as a play area that's centrally situated to all areas so they can play safely and parents can have peace. A coarse fishing lake with views towards the Preseli Hills is about 500 metres from the park: we'd call this vista mighty purty too.

Location is beautiful- we had sea views from our tent. Easy to find, well signposted and well laid out camping pitches with electric hook up, water and a picnic table. Great eggs from the farm.

    Disliked:

The showers are lovely and warm but there are only 2 so if busy could be a bit of a wait.

We absolutely loved our stay at Nolton Cross Caravan Park, we stayed in one of the Shepherd Huts and it did not disappoint. Great location, friendly staff and the hut had everything we required for our two night stay. I would definitely recommend to others.

Peace and quiete. Gravel hard standing with water and ehu on pitch. Easy to reach especially with larger tourers. Lovely walks around the lanes and along coastal paths. Loved the wake up calls from the cows over the hedge. Toilet and shower block nice and clean. As mentioned before a bit of a hike from the touring field but this did not bother us at all. friendly and helpful staff on site.

Clean site. Well equipped caravan. 21/08/2017

Caravan was clean and well equipped. On site shop was suitably equipped and products weren't expensive. Nearby coastal bays were great for young kids, who spent hours on the beach collecting shells and peering in to rock pools! A walk along the coastal path was worthwhile and the views were fantastic!

    Disliked:

The sofa bed in our caravan's lounge was old and looked a bit grubby. After the first night, we were so uncomfortable that we opted for sleeping on the sofa. The blind in the bathroom also needs replacing as it was bent and tired looking. The grill and oven took a long time to cook anything. There wasn't much for young children to do on site and nearby places of interest were run down and local activities very expensive.

Local attractions

We did say St Bride's Bay was mighty pretty – and it and Pembrokeshire have a mighty bit to do too.

The sandy beaches and watersports of Newgale, Broad Haven and Whitesands Bay are all within easy reach, as is the Pembrokeshire Coast Path (a coastal bus runs daily in summer for those who don't want to walk).

Skomer, Ramsey and Caldy islands are a bit of a must if you're in this part of the world: reach Ramsey from St Davids, Caldy from Tenby, and Skomer from Dale and Martins Haven.

Also nearby are St Davids Cathedral and the Bishops Palace, Oakwood Leisure Park, Folly Farm and the country parks of Llysyfran and Scolton Manor. Horse riding, surfing and fishing are all available within three miles.

Must see

  • St Davids Cathedral (9.0 miles)
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (10.0 miles)
