  • Quiet rural site with open country views and spectacular sunsets
  • Three miles from the coast and cycling or hiking the coast path
  • Peaceful retreat with campfires allowed and fresh produce for sale

If you want to know what to do around Pembrokeshire, its countryside and its coast, ask the friendly family team at Bryn Deri, 20 minutes' drive from Haverfordwest and six miles from St David's. For this knowledgeable crew can point you in the direction of weeks' worth of Welsh stuff to see and do, such as hiking among the spectacular scenery of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, taking a dolphin-spotting tour, plunging into surfing and kitesurfing, digging into Welsh history, and finding out just which beaches have the best sunsets...

Take time too for lots of lazing around on site: Bryn Deri is part of a Pembrokeshire smallholding, in a wildlife haven with loads of space for playing with kids (or dog); badgers, foxes and bats to spy around the grounds, then snuggling up beside a campfire at night. Lashing of fresh farm food is to hand too, as the team produces most of its own eats and should have eggs, honey and other farm produce for sale when in season. Bread can be baked to order on request.

All pitches at Bryn are level and all have plenty of space. If you seek yet more seclusion than this remote spot, you can opt to set up in the meadow instead, away from the other pitches. Amenities include toilets and showers, a simple washing-up area, and a place to rinse and hang wetsuits. Free wifi is included.

From Haverfordwest

Take the A487 in the direction of Haverfordwest/ St David’s. Come up the hill from Newgale and after about 1.5 miles, having passed through Penycwm, turn right (signpost Business Park & 14th Signal Regiment). After about ¼ mile take the first left, opposite Brawdy Business Park.
Follow the road for about 2.5 miles to the T-junction. Turn left and almost immediately right (signpost Croes-goch).
After about a mile the road curves right at Olmarch Farm then bears left again, (signpost Croes-goch; ignore turnings on right). In about ¼ mile as the road turns left, the house on the right is Bryn Deri. Caravan entrance/car parking is to the left of the house.

From Fishguard

On the A487 in the direction of nFishguard/ St David’s, go to Croes-goch and turn left onto the B4330 opposite the pub. In about 50 yards turn right into a road with no name, number or signpost but leading in the general direction of Brawd/ Solva. Follow the road for about 1.5 miles and Bryn Deri is on the left.

Local attractions

The Bryn Deri team can advise you on whatever you want to do around this part of Wales: ask when you arrive, flick through the plentiful leaflets in the shower room, or pick up the free Coast to Coast newspaper from tourist offices for details of attractions and local events.

Around the coast, make for kid-friendly and accessible Whitesands beach for evening barbecues and spectacular sunsets; Newgale for some serious surf; St Justinian's for boat and dolphin spotting trips (book in St David's), and Aberdiddy for rockpooling and heady spectating: this part of coast has been the venue for the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.

Also recommended by the team are golf with a view at Whitesands, anmbling around the riverside village of Solva and the splendid cathedral at St David's, checking out Pembrokeshire's many castles and the Saints and Stones pilgrimage routes, and sampling as much as possible of the local cuisine: the crew can point you in the right direction for this last one too.
