General

  • Peaceful location with views towards Sugar Loaf Mountain
  • Stone's throw away from a 'pick your own fruit' farm
  • Mile and half from market town Abergavenny

It’s not for nothing that this park is called Blossom…it’s set in a pear and plum orchard and each pitch is outlined with pear trees. And there is a pick your own fruit farm practically on the doorstep: superb all round, we say.

Blossom Touring Park Motorhome & Camp Site is a new park in Monmouthshire and has been called a little gem by former guests for its friendly welcome from owner James, its peaceful location and the views towards the famed Sugar Loaf Mountain and its surrounding hills. The sunsets here are blooming special too.

Blossom has a dedicated camping area and supersized pitches with electric hook-up via a token meter on all hardstanding pitches. All pitches on the park have a drain and water stand pipes are within easy access. Other amenities include a well-maintained loo and shower block, laundry facilities, and wifi at day rates (guests also get half an hour of wifi free).

Blossom Touring Park Motorhome & Camp Site is about a mile and a half from the market town of Abergavenny for pubs, restaurants and supermarkets. Two Sustrans cycle routes, 42 and 46, pass within a couple of hundred yards of the park.

When I first found this camp site I was overwhelmed by the fantastic views. The owner Jim was fantastic and showed us around his park and gave us the option of where we would like to pitch-up. He was very Courteous at all times and made us feel really welcome. Everyone we spoke to on the site spoke highly of Jim and held him in high esteem. The facilities on site were very clean and there was no sign of any rubbish laying around. We have now stayed at this site 4 times since May this year and thoroughly enjoyed every visit.

Aggressive bloke called jim/James presumably the owner/manager of site as it didn't state in the paperwork from pitch up you could not lite a fire we thought you could as new to camping. The bloke had awful customer service pulled up in his car in the dark accused us of robbing wood or something from some golf course spoke to us like dogs not a nice person at all no way on earth could I recommend the camp site after a running with that

From the manager...

My only regret YOUNG LADY is that I did not kick you off the park on the night in question. Your husband / partner & I were speaking very civil to each other until YOU DECIDED TO PIPE UP!

I did not tell you to put the fire out, I told you to enjoy the fire but please do not put any more wood on it.

Why did you not ask for a fire pit?

Why did you not bring any seasoned wood with you?

You built a Big bonfire directly on my grass! This will cost over £40 to address, you only paid a little over £20 to stay here.

You broke through my hedge to trespass on the neighbouring property to STEAL WOOD.

You burnt my wooden poles that cost over £4 each.

You nearly burnt a 20ft long plastic pipe until a guest told you not to! How thick can you get! Plastic is TOXIC!

Your dog was not on a lead!

This is Abergavenny NOT Nevada.

I should have called the police and had you charged with theft! criminal damage & trespass.

Please tell all your friends not to stay here!

Oh dont forget to take the tent back to argos for a refund because camping is clearly not your FORTE.

Local attractions

Abergavenny is an ace little town, with heaps happening all year round. It’s also known as the gateway to Wales for its access to the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons National Park and Offa's Dyke Path. The Beacons Way, the Usk Valley Walk and the Marches Way all pass through here too.

There are events and festivals of all flavours in Abergavenny: the Abergavenny Food Festival in September, lauded by the Observer as ‘the Glastonbury of food festivals’; its carnival and festival in summer; twice-yearly fair dating back centuries and markets most days at the Market Hall including flea and farmers’ … or get dramatic at any time of year with the plays and comedy of the Abergavenny Borough Theatre. Canny shopper? Poke around the car boot sale every Sunday a mile from Blossom.

At the nearby Brecon Beacons National Park, start off for info and buns at the National Park Visitor Centre for tips on what to do, or have a starting sightsee on the Brecon Mountain Railway. The national park and the area around it, including the area around Blossom, are a hit with stargazers who come for the clear skies: it’s possible to see the Milky Way from the Brecon Beacons National Park and it was the fifth place in the world to get International Dark-Sky Reserve Status.

Heritage and history geeks will find plenty to gaze upon in Monmouthshire too: the Big Pit National Coal Museum and underground tour at Blaenavon; the eleventh century Brecon Cathedral, the fab Raglan Castle for sightseeing and events, and museums including the Nelson collections at Monmouth Museum and the World War II air raid shelter at Abergavenny Museum.

The cathedral city of Newport is about half an hour’s drive away: there’s another castle here, several churches and a big museum and art gallery.
