owners are lovely . hard working and undergoing good quality re furbish. shower and toilet block very clean. mirco kettle and fridge for those travelling light. clean towels and soap in toilets. this will be a very good site when complete

    Disliked:

pitches not well maintained, waste bins overflowing. nettles and a little overgrown on hedges.

From the manager...

We are so glad you liked the renovation to the toilet block and appreciated the facilities that we provide in the campers kitchen. We did fall slightly behind with groundskeeping as the toilets are taking up so much of our time and the lad who does the mowing for us was on a three week holiday to Australia, the lucky thing! However, we do want to point out that as we are keen on nature and conservation, the grass on the back edges of the pitches is left longer for a reason. It is to enable small creatures to travel in safety, if out in the open, they are a perfect meal for a passing owl! Similarly, you may see some nettles in the wilder bits, the reason for this is that they are about the only plant that the beautiful peacock butterfly uses as a nursery for it's offspring. Without nettles, far fewer beautiful butterflies. We try to contain them to inaccessible areas though. Finally, the waste bins, they do fill up on a busy weekend and are collected on a Tuesday. We have tried to change the day to a Friday, but unfortunately, the waste carrier is unable to help with this. Some things are beyond our control I'm afraid. I hope you understand the explanations given and that they have addressed your concerns satisfactorily. Regards, Lynda

    Disliked:

The pitches were a bit too small and not enough bathrooms.

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we appreciate any feedback. We did explain to all campers that owing to the renovation of the toilet block not being finished, we were down on shower and toilet facilities and, to be fair, everyone said they understood and that it would be worth it in the end. We feel that it has made a major improvement on one of the areas where we were lacking, although, we have always kept the facilities clean, it's just that they were basic.
Regarding the pitch size, we have to dispute this as your booking was for two 2 berth tents and one vehicle, and it should be one tent and one vehicle per pitch as stated in our terms and conditions. You arrived with two slightly larger tents than described and two vehicles, only one was paid for. Unfortunately, if we are not given the correct information, it is impossible to pitch you correctly, especially during a busy bank holiday when we were fully booked. The two vehicles simply wouldn't fit on the pitch. We must also point out that you parked your second car on the pitch opposite yours, without asking if it was ok, and then went out for the day which meant that when the camper booked for that pitch arrived, they were unable to access their pitch for several hours until you arrived back on site. This caused considerable embarrassment to us, although we were not at fault, and inconvenience to them. There is a certain etiquette when camping and we feel you breached that, sadly. Hopefully we have all learned something from this.

very quiet and friendly site, even the tourists spoke to you ! central location for the area and a lovely sandy beach 15 mins down the road, yes, still some work in progress but the owners are very helpfull, so be patient, rome wasnt built in a day and improvements do take time

    Disliked:

not enough chickens = no fresh eggs! time to get a new flock, not the ownes fault, mr fox decided to visit and we all know how devastating that can be!

From the manager...

Hi there. It was a pleasure having you to stay and we look forward to your next visit. We do intend to get more hens, we are trying to get the building work done first before taking on the responsibility of another flock. We have been spoiled with the quality of our hens eggs and even the top priced supermarket ones simply cannot compete! Thank you again for your patience with the improvements, and also for your invaluable help after Paul's accident. Hopefully you will become regular visitors!

Good small site that was friendly and local to my home. 17/05/2017

    The countryside setting
The pleasant couple who ran the campsite
    The informality of the site
    The site being pet friendly
Not too far from many local facilities and places to visit.

Being newly back to camping I was using these couple of nights away as a 'Taster Weekend' and chose the Brynhyfryd site as it was close to home, less than 4 miles down the road! Enjoyed being back 'under canvas' again and looking forward to my next trip camping away!

To clarify about answers below, I wouldn't recommend 'cause I don't do recommendations and I wouldn't go again as it served it's purpose for my 'taster Weekend' but as it is only just up the road from home I've got no need to revisit!

    Disliked:

UNFORTUNATELY - the shower facilities were being upgraded and the work had over-run so there were no shower facilities but as I was only staying for two nights this was no big deal. For a longer stay it would have been more of a problem.

From the manager...

We are really glad you enjoyed your return to camping session with us! We do apologise for the ongoing work to improve the site, but we are lucky to have had great campers like yourself who were very understanding. Maybe we will see you again, check out the improvements!
