General

  • Well-maintained camping pods ten miles from the coast
  • Sleeping up to two adults and three children
  • With adjacent car parking, patio, heating and fully-equipped kitchen

Camping pods in Carmarthenshire – and how pretty (and well-priced) they are too.

West Wales Camping Pods is a small, friendly and most welcoming site on a working farm, with pods sleeping up to two adults and three children, on an area of roughly four by six metres for each pitch.

Each very well-kept and clean pod has its own adjacent car parking space, a patio with a barbecue chiminea, heating, and a kitchen with an electric oven, two-ring hob, a fridge, toaster, kettle, basin, microwave and vegetable steamer. Pans, plates, cutlery and crockery are supplied.

Facilities are sorted in the shower pod which has a basin, shower and loo; there's also a kitchen area with microwave for campers' use. And as it's a working farm, there are plenty of animals around for little podders to see.

Off site, West Wales Camping Pods is on the Pembrokeshire/Carmarthenshire border and about ten miles from the coast at Amroth.

Very peaceful location, especially as we were the only ones booked at the time as everyone had just gone back to school after the summer. Friendly owner and very helpful, although we didn't need to ask for anything as everything was fine. Pod heated up quickly and it wasn't cold at all. Kitchen facilities and bathroom were excellent, there is even a private chimnea and communal bbq area. Lovely views. We had a great time.

    Disliked:

Fold out beds were not very comfortable as they were quite flat and could feel the floor, the blow up mattress took a while to blow up and then slowly went down overnight. But it is camping, so we didn't mind so much.

We had a wonderful two night stay at West Wales Camping Pods and were greeted by the lovely owner Beth on arrival. The pods including the shower and kitchen pod were clean and well equipped with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The pods are very well located to explore many attractions, towns and resorts. The highlights for our children were feeding the animals and roasting marshmallows on the chiminea provided. Thank you and we will definitely be back!

Arrived to a lovely friendly welcome from Beth, Mark and Josie. Beth showed us round the pod and facilities, the site is compact and well equipped, there is a full kitchen, and a pod for the female shower/toilet, and the same for the men's. The compost toilet is easy to use and doesn't smell any worse than a normal toilet. The shower was clean and easy to use.
Our pod was clean, with heating, lighting, a kettle, fridge, table, chairs and a chiminea outside. It was clean and roomy, with loads of space for me, and two boys (10 and 7). The site is really quiet, and we all slept well, it was very peaceful, and we didn't hear noise from other visitors or the animals on the farm.
My boys loved getting to feed the goats, calves and ducklings. Beth and Josie were really enthusiastic about getting the kids involved in feeding their animals, they were really patient with them, it was the highlight of their day.
There is loads to do in the area, and some lovely beaches. I recommend Castell Henllys, which is a rebuilt Iron Age roundhouse site.

Wonderful place to stay, the pod was lovely and perfect for our needs - warm and clean. We made use of the gorgeous chimenea on our deck and the abundance of equipment in the communal kitchen. The hosts were very welcoming and my children had a fantastic time feeding 7 week old calves and cuddling 11 day old ducklings. A perfect place to stay within easy reach of gorgeous beaches such as Amroth & Wiseman's Bridge and only 20 mins from the bustling harbour town of Tenby.

Local attractions

There's plenty to do in west Wales, particularly around its fine sandy beaches: too many to mention, but Wiseman's Bridge, Saundersfoot and Coppet are all popular stops. And the Carmarthenshire section of the Wales Coastal Path is very much worth a look, as is utterly beaut Carmarthen Bay.

A fair bit of family fun is around too, at Oakwood Theme Park, the Blue Lagoon Waterpark, Hetherton World of Adventures and Folly Farm, while all ages should like flowing along for a look at the cascades of Cenarth Falls.

See also the peaks and prehistoric trails of the nearby Preseli mountains just over the border in Pembrokeshire, and take a trip around the town of Narberth to have a poke around its shops, art galleries and the Narberth Museum.

Must see

  • National Wool Museum (15.1 miles)
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (17.2 miles)
  • Pembroke Castle (17.6 miles)
