General

  • Dog-friendly and peaceful park with rural river views
  • Defined family-friendly and adults-only fields
  • Many walks available nearby

A view… by a river… well of course. Riverview Touring Park in southwest Wales has the scenic River Gwili flowing along part of its boundary: we suggest you settle down here with river view and book.

Although the site is in a peaceful rural setting, it's easily reached from Junction 49 of the M4 and other major routes and has easy access to the attractions and activities of Carmarthenshire and south Wales. It faces south, is filled with native trees, wildflowers and wildlife as well as the river views, and covers six acres with a woodland walk linking to the five-acre hay meadow – both topping spots for strolls for walking the dog. (Another walk is available across the bridge and up a track skirting a wooded valley.)

Riverview is owned by Sian and Andy, who live on site with the mission of helping guests have as peaceful and enjoyable a stay as possible. The facilities they've added include four sinks and drainers for washing up, and a modern loo and shower block with a family room, disabled access and – always a winner – underfloor heating.

Everyday essentials like milk, bread, soft drinks, cakes, sweets and some local produce are available in the small shop at reception, along with free-range eggs when the chickens are in production and local bacon and sausages when available.

A book exchange and DVD library are also in the shop: guests using these can make a contribution to Andy and Sian's chosen charity the Wales Air Ambulance.

The site is stunning, with beautiful woodland containing pretty wildflowers and plenty of lush greenery surrounding it. This includes a dog walking track (or just a walk after dinner if you don't have a dog) that is superbly maintained; and, as the site name suggests, has a gorgeous river running through it on slate and rocks. It's truly a beautiful place, and intimate too- even though there are a good amount of pitches.
The facilities were spotless, well maintained and warm, with a proper shower which was extremely welcome, no scalding/freezing 30 seconds bursts of water here.
Graham in particular is worth mention here as we arrived late (pitch up states an 8pm check-in, Riverview literature says 7pm) thanks to some confusion, as well as having a caravan window vanish on the m4. Graham not only checked us in with good grace and friendliness, but helped us reverse into our pitch, and also helped us tape up a repair for the gaping hole where the (bedroom) window was. This was unimaginably welcome after what had been a bit of a worrying journey without the window. He also put us in touch with a local repair company who did a great job in sorting us out - we really couldn't have asked for any better help, welcome or more of a capable person to make the situation (as new carvanners) easier to deal with.
Everyone else working on site was also wonderfully friendly and pleasant, more than happy to recommend places to go or have a quick chat in passing.
This is a wonderful site, very fairly priced with great facilities and wonderful people, in an absolutely stunning part of the world.
I sincerely hope we are back in the area soon.

I hesitate to make too many good comments because when you find a place like this, you really want to keep it quiet, otherwise everyone will want to go, but I'm afraid I have to admit the place was brilliant. We stayed in the adults only section which was lovely and quiet, and that was on a Bank Holiday. We have a dog and places to walk the dog were excellent, as was the river which runs along the bottom of the site, for the dog to swim in. I've never paid much attention to people who write on these reviews that the owners/wardens were very friendly/helpful etc., but these people actually were - they were always friendly and helpful. The facilities were very good - the Toilets & Showers were spotless, and the setting is to die for. Unusually for us, we actually spent one of our three days on the site, because why drive all over the place, when you're already in such a lovely place. We've already passed on the details of the site to some friends.

    Disliked:

The only complaint would be that one of the three men's toilets had a broken lock on the door, which reduced the number of usable toilets for the site to two. That said, and bearing in mind this was a busy Bank Holiday when we stayed, I was never unable to find one of the toilets free, and I'm sure this would have been fixed pretty promptly, based on the way that they keep the rest of the site.

    Clean & Tidy.
The guy's at the site couldn't be more welcoming if they tried (FAB), and don't stop working.
The toilets are spotless all the time and are really warm (like a sauna), which is really nice! not like other sites when you have a shower you are freezing when you get out..
    Quiet, tranquil, peaceful & relaxing.
We will be returning!! (Actually next bank holiday) can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well kept site , excellent shower and toilet facilities with underfloor heating which was a bonus on the chilly April mornings. Easy to find with easy access from the main road. This did mean there was some road noise, but nothing to spoil our stay on a very nice site within a good setting right on the river. The shop facility is also good for your basics. Will return at some point in the future

What can I say! Just brilliant all round! I am a single parent with 3 young children and this was our first camping trip so I booked River View based on the incredible reviews from previous visitors and I was not disappointed. All of the facilities are in pristine condition with all the mod cons, plus a large family bathroom which was great for me being the sole adult. Everything you could possibly need was available - a small shop, launderette, book and DVD lending!
The pitch was on level ground, very well maintained and in close proximity to electric hookup - also all pitches were close to gravel roads so no need to park on the grass, the staff even gave us rubber mats for the small patch of grass leading to the tent, so no need to tread mud inside :-)
One of my main concerns was ensuring that the children were entertained and again this was not an issue at all. There are chickens, ducks and sheep in an area just off from the pitches and my children spent most of their time making friends with the new baby lambs, feeding them grass and chatting with the lovely lady who cared for them. There is a small play area in close proximity, but more importantly the site is surrounded by lovely countryside walks and down by the reception a ford which the kids loved playing in and 'fishing' with their nets. Lastly, not a big issue but for my 11 year old very important - the wifi and phone reception were both brilliant, so no complaints for the more tech dependent teens!
Really really happy, we will definitely be back again and again.

    Disliked:

There is distant road noise from the A road, however this calmed down at night and we found the proximity more of a plus as the site is so accessible.

Helpful staff, tidy site, good toilets and dishwashing facilities, lovely location with short walks on the land. Also separation of quiet side from family side, and easy access from M4.

Not the best location if you want to go cycling - a bit hilly, with major roads to cross, and no obvious cycling routes.
