General

  • Hugely spacious site set over ten acres
  • A couple of miles from Amroth and 3-4 from Tenby and Saundersfoot
  • Large meadow area, picnic bench and firepit exclusive to each pitch

Is Coastal Wood Camping in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park one of the most spacious sites in the country?

It could be so, for it has just three pitches – Bluebell, Dandelion and Buttercup – over a whopping ten acres, each set in big meadows with beaut woodland/field views and filled with wild grasses and colourful wildflowers. This could be a place to hide...

Each pitch at Coastal Wood Camping can take any size of tent or motorhome, and comes with its own canvas shelter (shelved, no less) big enough to be used as an undercover shaded area for the pitch picnic bench; you'll also have a water carrier, washing-up bowl, chopping board and a lockable box with axe. What to use the axe for? Wood from 'The Old Wood Store' on site, to blaze up at each pitch's dedicated firepit.

Amenities at this oh so spacious site include the aforementioned wood store, the 'Diddly Little Shop' and laundry facilities. There's also a play area for the kids, just in case their share of the ten acres isn't quite enough...

An absolutely fantastic campsite. Great pitches with plenty of space to give you privacy. Each pitch has its own undercover dining area which is a great touch, especially when you are out of season!
Lots of information on local area, walks, things to do, and dog friendly options.

Everything you need was available, fire wood, fire pit, shower that is hot, small shop, play area, dog area, maps, axe and axe block, water carrier.

    Oh, and the stars!

Lee and Abbey really couldn't have done any more. Their communication is great and their local knowledge is excellent.

This was by far the best campsite we have ever stayed at. Blue bell pitch was the only one in a large field so we had privacy and space. There are so many thoughtful extras provided by the owners - freezer to freeze our blocks, a phone charging point, honesty shop with lots of goodies to name just a few. Each pitch has a campfire pit and benches to sit on which was lovely once it got dark. We took our dog and here were lots of walks to go on direct from the site. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent, just like being at home. Location wise, the site is just a few miles from some excellent beaches. If you only go to 1 camp site then make sure you visit this one.

    Disliked:

Nothing - it was perfect for us.

Local attractions

There’s all the glorious space at Coastal Wood Camping – and then it's just a short drive to some of the most scenic and sandy beaches in the land: eight award winners within ten miles, in fact. Both Amroth and Pendine are a couple of miles away and Wisemans Bridge, Saundersfoot and Tenby are within a quick drive.

Townwise, take to nearby Tenby, Saundersfoot, Narberth and Laugharne for fishing, boat trips, and dolphin spotting. Hikes along the Pembrokeshire coast path and the Carmarthenshire Coastal Path are close to Coastal Wood, as is the National Cycle Route 4 from London to Fishguard.

Amroth's Colby Woodland Garden is a good option for greenery, and the bay at Barafundle, part of the Stackpole Estate, is the place to go for wildlife.

Kidswise? Coastal Wood is close to several Welsh family days out such as Folly Farm, Oakwood Theme Park, Manor House Zoo and Heatherton World of Activities.
