General

  • Family site within an hour’s drive of Wales’ most notable destinations
  • Half-an-hour from the sands of Aberporth and Tresaith
  • Top spot for clear-skies stargazing

Are you looking for a spiffing mix of activity and relaxation? Roll on up to Trenoeth, a small family-friendly site 25 minutes’ drive from Carmarthen in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, where you’ll be on the go for your entire trip – except for when you’re chilling out in the peace and quiet on site.

Trenoeth is a prime spot for basing yourself for a top-notch Welsh getaway, less than an hour from tons of the major sites and towns – including Cardigan Bay and a handful of theme parks – and around 10 minutes from National Cycle Route 47, which you can pick up in Dinas.

Back on site, you can relax by kicking up your feet or taking a stroll around the wildlife pond, keeping your eyes peeled for kingfishers, herons and woodpeckers, and nesting ducks and geese.

Fire up the barbecue when you’re feeling peckish and load it up with treats from the supermarket 15 minutes away, then chow down next to the campfire. If you’d prefer a break from the cooking, treat yourself to a meal (or two, or three, or … well, you get the message) at one of the restaurants within half an hour of Trenoeth before returning to site for a spot of stargazing – on clear nights, you can expect spectacular views of the Milky Way.

Awful site on a slope with lots of holes

From the manager...

Such a shame you didn’t enjoy our countryside rural retreat in beautiful Carmarthenshire, that others find so pleasant. Maybe stick to high end priced commercial sites in future, as clearly the fresh country air, occasional mole hill and naturally landscaped sites are not for you.

Had no issues with the lane to the site, not bad at all for a farm track! The site is located in beautiful countryside, plenty of quiet walks for the dogs.
There is one toilet with wash basin and another toilet, wash basin with shower. Quite sufficient for the size of the site. There wasn't any hot water for pot washing so we just boiled the kettle.
Site owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming.
If you want a peaceful break away from the hum of traffic and noise, this is the perfect site.. however, a peaceful site is only as peaceful as the campers on it.. we had a few days and nights with a few noisy campers, which didn't bother us, but the difference and atmosphere on site once they left was noticeable.
I would definately stay here again, it is a beautiful part of the world and a great base for exploring this ŕegion of Wales.

Absolutely fantastic campsite, we loved every minute and so did our dogs.
The site is small, secluded and quiet. The owners are so friendly and welcoming, sorted any niggles quickly.
There is one large shower room, with toilet and basin. Another seperate toilet. Never any issues with waiting when we stayed and we actually preferred this over a communal block of showers.
Washing up facilities available and owners were more than happy to re-freeze our ice packs. Fresh eggs also available which was a bonus. Nearest shops are approximately 20 min drive away which was okay once we got used to the roads etc. Lovely co-op with fresh bakery at St Clears. Alternatively there are lots of shops etc in Carmarthen, 30 min drive away.
We actually enjoyed the fact there was limited phone signal and lack of WiFi. Kids started colouring and playing again. We always managed to pick up signal at the bench on site or up the entrance track.
Great site for dogs, plenty of walks exploring the hills and fields. Ours loved playing and cooling off in the little stream on site too!
The site is surrounded by fantastic dog beaches 30-60 min drive.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a bit of the quiet life. We are 100% returning! 😁 😍 👌

The pitches are a fantastic size, the campsite is small and safe for small children, and the family who own the site are absolutely wonderful. They could not be more helpful, friendly and hospitable. What a lovely little place to stay and we will definitely stay again next time we are in South Wales.

Local attractions

If you’re craving some salt air and the smell of the ocean, you won’t have to look too far away: Trenoeth is 35 minutes’ drive from the sandy and sheltered Aberporth beach and Tresaith beach and waterfall, and Newport Bay, Pendine Sands and Saundersfoot are only a little further.

Maybe it’s nature you’re craving? Within 45 minutes of Trenoeth, take a boat trip into Cardigan Bay for some dolphin spotting, explore Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and stroll the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

History buffs will be well served in the area around the site: Cilgerran and Kidwelly castles, Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, the Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber portal dolmen and the steam trains at Gwilli Railway are all less than 45 minutes away.

Trenoeth is toppers if you’ve got kids with you – not only are the beaches relatively close by, but the West Wales Museum of Childhood is just 20 minutes up the road, and Manor House Wildlife Park and Oakwood, Heatherton and Folly Farm theme parks are all less than an hour from site.

Older heads who might like to have a more grownup adventure should pour themselves into the car and tip over to Dà Mhìle Distillery for a (pre-booked) tour and a sampling of the artisan gin, whisky and liquors they make on-site.
