Excellent site with clean facilities, friendly staff and level pitches 12/09/2017

Great central location, nice pitches - well kept, we opted for an electrical hook-up, which are good & close to each of the pitches (water tap also adjacent), excellent shower & toilet facilities & friendly staff.

    Disliked:

We were there for a long weekend (Sat/Sun/Monday) but the Halfway Inn was closed all day Sunday, so we couldn't eat or drink there as intended - in fact all the local pubs were closed on Sunday, so we had to travel into Carmarthen to find somewhere to eat (about 10 miles away) not ideal if you have a young family.

This also meant that although we were greeted in a friendly manner when we arrived, we didn't see anyone again up-until the time we left on Monday lunchtime, so if we had any queries or problems - there was nobody about to seek help from.

As far as recommendation - yes but don't go over a weekend!

Myself my friend and our partners came to stay bank holiday weekend. We had the most lovely time! The owner is absolutely charming and incredibly welcoming. The site wqas beautiful and tranquil with chickens freely roaming (they are however put away at night so no noisy wake up call!) Right in the middle of beautiful countryside with castles surrounding just 10-20 minutes away. The restaurant is a little hidden gem with the most BEAUTIFUL food! All in all, a fabulous bank holiday weekend and we will definitely be returning! Thank you Towy Valley!

Owners very friendly, and helpful. I.e., friends we meet up with asked if they grass could be cut as a bit long and rain forecast, and this was no problem.
Spacious pitches, water supply every pitch by electric hook up.
    Restaurant food very good.
    Beautiful surrounding countryside.
Near to the Welsh Botanical Gardens, which are very good.
Also a lovely National Trust property.

    Disliked:

The two showers were very clean.
BUT they were always steamed up as no outside ventilation. Consequently the walls were very wet as was the heated towel rail (not on.. August) So unable to put towels or our clothes on it.
No sinks in shower rooms, so to clean teeth, take out contact lens etc required going into the pub to the toilet facilities.

    These were also immaculately clean.
But no plugs for basins, though wouldn't have had a quick wash there as also the facilities for restaurant.

The washing up area, had no light, and was next to a scaffolding tower, so all a work in progress.

It was not safe to walk from the site, and no nearby footpaths.
This would not be a problem if no intending to walk.

    Expensive for facilities provided.

Country setting. Plenty of space between the caravans. Excellent showers and toilets. Done to as high a standard as possible. Excellent food served in the Halfway Inn which is on site. Very reasonable prices to stay here. This is a newly established adults only site. It is still a work in progress and I'm sure will get better still year on year. Owners and staff are really friendly and obviously care about their work. There are about 6 free range hens and a that cockerel roam the site. They are lovely.

    Disliked:

Hardstanding only for caravan. Awning on grass. Always a problem in wet weather which is rather common in the uk. Even breathable carpets ruin the grass for the next occupant and the wet comes through the breathable carpet when stood on. Gravel needs doubling in width to improve the situation for both the owners and occupants. Whilst the toilets and showers are immaculate there are not enough if the site was fully occupied. 2 showers and just 1 gents cubicle. Needs a dedicated unisex shower and toilet block with say wet rooms including a wc and basin. Probably about 6 would be right. The patio and washing up areas need tidying and jet washing. Planters need some flowers planting. Obviously have a weed problem that needs addressing. Looked like they have put some weed killer down but it needs ongoing management. The owner has plans to make this a really lovely site so it needs support to provide them with the funds to do this. It has the potential to be spectacular. Am sure in time it will be. We will return I'm sure.

I have now stayed at this site three times as it ticks all the boxes for my wife and I.It is in lovely location near Carmarthen, which is ideally located for the national botanical gardens and Aberglasney .The site is lovely and peaceful with no children running riot etc .We love the chickens and cows from the field next door .We managed to get a table in the restaurant for my wife's birthday ,and had a lovely meal complete with candle .If your just passing its well worth a stop if your hungry ,I noticed many caravaners pulling in over the weekend as there's plenty of room in the Car park to turn around .

Weeds around pitches.pitches NOT level, not what I thought I booked at all,as disabled partner needs level as requested when booking.

From the manager...

We at Towy Valley Caravan Park would like to address your incorrect and misleading review. We do have level pitches , including hardstandings . We also have a specific disabled place which is close to our facilities and is on the same level as them. We also have a purpose built disabled washroom/ toilet and shower. There is also disabled access straight into our restaurant should you have wished to dine You would not however known of any of this, as you did not have the common decency and sense to ask.
You have probably take more time in writing your slanderous review than you did on looking at our site.
For your information, the so called weeds between pitches are actually beech trees and natural grasses. Due to the planning regulations opposed on us , as we are in a protected wildlife area , we are only allowed to plant foliage which is native to the Valley which we are in. We are not even allowed due to wild birds , to cut our hedges until September. The grass is however cut on a regular basis.
To be honest with an attitude like yours , you driving away, sounds like you did us a favour. Thank you !!!
