A wonderful little piece of the wild that is totally beautiful to soak up. Such a warm welcome from the most attentive host in a family friendly environment. The area is also beautiful with lots of off site activities to choose from. However, staying on site is far from the bland fields that can sometimes simply be row after row of caravans or tents. There is something quite magical about quarry lodge. Perhaps it has something to do with all the fairies in residence! How many doors can you spot?

A really peaceful, friendly site. The meadow was lovely, no cut grass so tent stayed clean. Fabulous views. The fairy doors and tyre swing were a huge hit with the kids. Lovely to be able to hear the animals in the nearby fields at night. Useful to have a communal freezer and kettle. Firewood kept stocked and fire pit available for use. BBQs allowed (even provide bricks to use with disposable BBQs). Linda is wonderful, so friendly, helpful and accommodating.

    Disliked:

The toilet and shower facilities are limited and were in the next field from where we stayed although was good to have the additional chemical toilet in the meadow site.

The owner greated us on arrival, showed us to our pitch. She had a great knowledge of all around us. We went there with rather expensive mountain bikes, somewhat of a worry initially, but there was a dry barn to safely store them in. She told us about the local trails, and even the nearest pubs who served great food for after. Wash facilities on site were great, and cleaned very regularly. The site is beautiful! So natural, as untouched as can be. Wild flowers everywhere. A great atmosphere on site, everyone was friendly and happy, several groups had been here before, which really says something. My friend and I were travelling with a friend and his 13yr old son, who were also returning guests.
Walking further around the site, there are electric pitches and non-electric pitches. Some are set back in their own clearing in the woods - perfect for larger groups who may wish to be more private.
We all agreed we'd definitely go back again, but for a longer stay.

The owner is friendly and very helpful, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The day trip suggestions where spot on.
The campsite is clean and so are the facilties.
Lovely dog walking area, which our three pooches loved.
Plenty of space for the children to play around even though the actual camping field is quite small but there are lots of other areas for the children to go safely play. There is also a second camping area in the Meadow so you have plenty of choice.

    Disliked:

Not a dislike as the owners are making changes at the moment but there is currently only 1 toilet and 1 shower each for male and females.which for us was no problem as it wasn't to busy but I can imagine at peak times there being a slight que,but like I said not a dislike at all as the owners are at this moment improving facilties which will make this spot an even better gem then it already is.

Was a bit nervous when we arrived as the site seemed too quiet for my little darling foghorns, but was able to let the children aged 3, 5, 9 & 10 run around and even kept the other campers dogs exercised. Had lovely pitches and the owner was always around, either gardening or with friendly conversation and even taught the children some Welsh. Beautiful surroundings, only one shower/toilet for each sex, but worked well as there isn't too many pitches so never waited to use either. The facilities were always clean, a kettle and plug to charge phones for those not with ehu, a few books for all ages to enjoy and lots of information for local activities. We loved camping here, I can not recommend it enough!

A beautiful campsite that straddles the wild, with the convenience of clean toilet, shower facilities, freezer, kettle, etc.

As other reviewers have noted, Linda was a fantastic host. Giving all the essential details to enjoy the stay, providing us with a fire pit and giving us space to enjoy ourselves otherwise.

We stayed on the non electric field. Unless you HAVE to have power when you are camping, I would say this is the field to stay on. The hook up field was nice. But in the non hook up field, each pitch is surrounded by patches of wild meadow grasses. Making the stay even more beautiful.

Either way, each tent has plenty of space. This is a down to earth campsite that puts the big boys, that cram tents into too small a space, to shame.

Oh, and the site is incredible value for money too.

There's plenty to do in the area. The A40 being close and incredibly useful to get you around quickly. Camerthan is minutes away in the car. So it's easy to pick up provisions from the local butcher, green grocer etc.

We really enjoyed driving up into the hills, visiting castles and going to the beach. Oh, and the Gwili Valley railway is worth a visit too. Held together by string and enthusiasm and all the better for it (older kids may get a bit bored!).

Do yourself a favour - book.

Yet again everything here was perfect. Our second stay in 6 weeks and we will be staying again in august. Even the Welsh rain didn't dampen the experience.
The site feel's like a home from home, if we could have a seasonal pitch we'd be there every weekend.
