General
- Large secluded camping meadow surrounded by fields and woodland
- Acres of woodland to explore on a 30-acre smallholding
- Plenty of friendly animals to meet including donkeys Lily and Misty
Combine adventure and comfort in this lovely camping spot: Cwm Ty Coed is on a 30-acre smallholding near Carmarthen, surrounded by both meadow and mature woodland, and with spectacular views of the surrounding area.
The owners want to create a sense of wild camping but with lots of comfort and have designed the site accordingly: all guests have access to cleanly kept toilets and gas powered showers; a well-equipped camp kitchen with two cast iron cooking rings and space to eat under shelter depending on the weather, and a big log cabin furnished with cosy sofas, a woodburning stove and a cooker.
There's plenty of space to explore by using swings or walkways in the woodland, and there's even a zipwire for those aged over eight. The site also has plenty of space to relax, especially on the hammocks provided.
The site is three miles from the busy market town of Carmarthen with a good number of shops, restaurants and cafés, as well as a cinema and local produce markets.

Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review as they are really useful to us. We're pleased that you enjoyed aspects of your stay but have noted all your comments. Unfortunately, the very wet weather recently meant the cabin has been under a lot of pressure. We do try to arrange it for the variety of functions it has over the season and it is always popular and gets positive comments usually - we will certainly look into ways of improving it further. The road noise from the local A road (not a motorway) was very unlucky for you as the sound can travel across the valley with certain wind/atmospheric conditions and thankfully is not a frequent occurrence - August has felt a little like Autumn these last weeks. |

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, they are always useful to us. We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay but have noted all your comments. Unfortunately, the very wet weather meant the cabin was under a lot of pressure - luckily the sunshine is back now. Noise after 10pm is something that we are very happy to address if we are aware and are used to tactfully ensuring that the camping field is peaceful - we have lots of other space for later evenings for those that would like them. Many thanks and we hope to see you again at Cwm Tŷ Coed. |

Approaching Carmarthen from the M4 you need to continue towards the town on the A48. About 2.5 miles before Carmarthen, there is a sign for Dyfed Powys Police Headquarters and the A48 starts to go down a long hill. At the bottom of this hill you should take the left turn.
If you are approaching the site from the west you need to take the A48 towards Swansea and take the first right turn off the dual carriageway.
Follow this road for 100m and then, on the bend, take the right turn, in the direction of Cwmffrwd. This road will take you through a farm and approximately half a mile further on you can find the track to Cwm Ty Coed on the left-hand side.
Local attractions
Cwm Ty Coed is well placed to explore the majority of attractions of west Wales. The nearest coast is five miles away and the lovely Pembrey Country Park with miles of sandy beach can be reached within 15 minutes by car.
The coast of the Gower is not far away and the many beaches of Pembrokeshire are equally close. Llansteffan has a spectacular coastal walk and you can be exploring its sandy coves within 20 minutes of leaving the site.
Brechfa Forest is very close by and has stunning walks and mountain bike tracks for all abilities. The owners can arrange discounted cycle hire for those who want to try the award-winning Millennium Coastal Path.
The area is steeped in legend too: Carmarthenshire alone has twelve castles. More recent history could draw you to the pretty village of Laugharne and Dylan Thomas’s boathouse with its views of the estuary.
For the adventurous spirit there are plenty of activities including mountain biking, horse riding, coasteering (highly recommended), sailing, kayaking and seal watching on the west coast.
With years of family life experience in the area the owners can offer plenty of firsthand advice if required.
