Beautiful setting. Lovely walk around the campsite fields with the dog every day. Very helpful owner. Brilliant facilities.

    Disliked:

Hot water runs out quite quickly, so a few cold showers and washing up.
The main road has very fast traffic, so slightly unnerving trying to leave, but actually was ok

The showers were nice and hot which is great on a cold morning.
There were fire pits conveniently place along the riverside and the camp.
It's location is in the middle of some beautiful scenery and close to a very pretty river.
It's near the Grapes Hotel which does great food and beer.
Owner was fine about us changing our pitch details when we arrived.

    Disliked:

The rain had made the ground round the road into the camp quite boggy.
The ground was quite badly churned up by cars getting in and out, not a lot can be done about this but l had to drive like a rally driver to get out!

The wasps have been very bad this year but they all seem to have disappeared now. Think the wasp traps have finally worked!

Seclusion, clean showers and toilets, showers good when hot, friendly helpful staff, lovely setting, quiet, no Internet was welcome

    Disliked:

Bin area was chaos, hot water running out

From the manager...

Thank you for your review and hope that you will visit us again.
The chaos in the bin area is caused by selfish campers who just won't put their recycling into the correct bins. In fact they often don't put their rubbish in the bins at all (sepearate bins for recycling, food waste and other waste just like at home) but just dump sacks of mixed rubbish in the bin area.
We often spend hours sorting other people's rubbish which is most unpleasant.

    Disliked:

From the manager...

Thank you for your review.
We are glad you enjoyed being by the river.
We are so sorry you had annoying neighbours on site. We have strict rules relating to noise and being respectful to others and had you reported your problems to us at the time, we would have dealt with it.

Local attractions

As we say, get ready for slate caverns, an arresting Italianate village, vintage railways, hikes, bike rides and quite a lot more around Llechrwd Riverside Campsite – and the sands of Harlech are within easy driving distance too.

The Vale of Ffestiniog has three of the most visited attractions in north Wales: start off at the head of the valley and the Llechwedd Slate Caverns to take the miners' tramway or head deep into a mine via the funicular railway; explore the Italianate village Portmeirion made famous by telly series The Prisoner; and count yourself in too for a run on the narrow-gauge Ffestiniog Railway, running the length of the valley from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Porthmadog.

The shops, a leisure centre, a cinema, harbour, maritime museum, golf course, cafés and restaurants of Porthmadog should be investigated once there, before a vintage trip on the Welsh Highland Railway from here to Caernarfon via Beddgelert.

Outdoorsy sorts can try the new downhill bike trails of Antur Stiniog at Llechwedd Slate Caverns; hill walking or climbing at the Moelwyn and Manod mountains; the lower level forest and lake walks at Tan-Y-Bwlch; hiking the four miles of sand at Harlech Beach and the smaller bays at Borth-y-Gest, or tackling as much as poss of the Welsh Coastal Path.

While you’re at Harlech, look out for the theatre, golf course, Harlech Castle and the smaller ruin of Criccieth Castle nearby; if castles are your Welsh holiday thang, those at both Caernarfon and Conwy can be reached within an hour's drive.

Must see
