  • Adults-only park just outside St Asaph
  • All sizes of tourers welcome on unlimited-size pitches
  • Bar and restaurant on site; dogs welcome
Come to the Clwydian Range, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty among north Wales's culture, walking trails and miles of tracks for pedalling – and with the coast just a few miles away. And then come camping at Rhuallt Country Park, a peaceful and family-run touring park minutes from the A55, with stunning views across fields up into the Clwydian range, and a friendly welcome for all. The team mission is to ensure guests have a peaceful and relaxed time in these scenic surroundings: if you need anything or would like suggestions on where to go in the area, the staff are always happy to help. All tourers big and small are welcome at Rhuallt on its unlimited-sized pitches. Of an evening, settle down in the site bar and restaurant, the White House, for dinner and drinks; lunch and a la carte menus are available too as well as seasonal daily specials. The friendly welcome on site extends to canines too as Rhuallt is dog-friendly, and pooches can tail wag on the miles of lanes nearby. Rhuallt is an adults-only site, but you may see some children on site as some of the seasonal pitches are let to families.

Liked: From the moment we arrived at the barrier the warden made us extremely welcome. Great information about the local area as well as site. Food at the on site hotel is amazing - despite being in the motorhome our cooking facilities were redundant. There is absolutely nothing to dislike. Pitch 27 was perfect for us.

Liked: Clean site toilets and showers immaculate

Disliked: Couldnt fault the site but we had a takeaway from the restaurant which wasnt the best, £22 for a burger and extra chips, frozen French fries!! Dont get me wrong i like french fries but not that expensive! Burger was ok but not worth £22 if it had been homemade chips, something abit special, but sorry very disappointed

Liked: Lovely quiet location, lovely on site bar and restaurant.

Disliked: Pitch we was assigned was already full, was assigned to a second pitch which also turned out to be full.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We do apologies for the mix up. Someone had pitched up on the wrong pitch, and it had a domino affect on other customers. We have now got a warden, so issues such as this can now be dealt with over the weekend. We hope this has not made you not want to stay with us again... - Elizabeth

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Well maintained site with large pitch area. The hotel in front has a lovely spa, but a bit pricey at the weekend. The food there was ok, but definitely not worth the extortionate bill we had. We saw maintenance being carried out, but no other staff, they email you everything you need, but no personal touch.

Disliked: Lots of road noise which we had anticipated, if you are a light sleeper, you will need earplugs. There was noise because of Christmas parties, the Friday night was fine, but on Saturday, I could clearly hear the singer with my earplugs in. So much for the 10pm noise rule! The security barrier was never down, anybody could drive on or off the site. 3 out of 5 showers in the ladies weren’t in use. The 2 that were need some TLC - flooring lifting, hair in the drain. We won’t be returning.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We are very sorry that you won't be returning to our park Currently, we have no wardens on site during the winter season. The office is only manned on weekdays, so we do try to get everything to you before your stay. We know it isn't the same as having someone there to greet you, but this isn't always the case. I will pass on your comments to the White House - they are a separate business to us. Their cut off time for parties is midnight. We are aware of the issues with the barrier. The company has ordered parts to repair it, however it can either be stuck in the open position or the closed position. As we have a lot of bookings and seasonals coming on and off the park, we thought it best to keep the park open. Due to it being the winter season, and therefore a lot quieter than summer, we have closed some of the showers off. Our cleaners are cleaning what needs to be cleaned, and not every shower just in case it has been used. We are aware of the issues with the floor, and are looking at a solution. Thank you, Elizabeth

Liked: Clean toilet block

Disliked: Water logged grass surrounding pitches, freshwater and waste water wrong side of pitch, noise from A55 and then function at the hotel on Saturday night, ended up leaving a night early, £30 a night far too expensive

Local attractions

Did you know there is such a thing in the world as a people-powered rollercoaster? There is indeedy, at nearby GreenWood Forest Park, home of the planet's only human-powered rollercoaster and several times voted best family attraction in Wales. This is an eco-friendly activity centre with rides, live shows, play areas, crafts and furry/feathered inhabitants: prepare to spend the full day... On the coast, check out the water-powered critters (sharks!) of SeaQuarium at Rhyl, or take trips around the coastline to Prestatyn, Abergele, Conwy Bay and onto Wales's biggest seaside resort Llandudno: another record breaker is here as the town has the longest toboggan run in Britain. Snowdonia National Park is to the west of Rhuallt and is probably the most-visited area for walkers in this part of Wales, but hiking types have heaps more to pick from, like the Clwydian Range and the Vale of Clwyd inland and the Llŷn Peninsula and coastal paths of Anglesey towards the water. The National Cycle Network Route 5 runs along the fairly easy miles from Rhyl to Prestatyn, but if you fancy something a bit more hair-raising, mountain biking trails like the ones at Coed Llandegla Forest are easy to get to from Rhuallt Country Park and have lanes divided by ability so that the experienced can really hurtle along.
