Nice quiet park. Relaxed stay with friends. Kids enjoyed making new friends. Showers and toilets are clean. No rush to vacate the pitch. Son loved the games room.

    Disliked:

Needs more electric points so you can spread out more.
I'm sure the barn area on camping field could have atleast 1 toilet/shower facilities so you don't have to walk over to the caravan area just to nip the loo. This can be frustrating when you have young children.

Great site for everyone but especially families and groups. Very easy going owners who are always available and nothing is too much trouble. 1 shower / toilet block that in across the road from the tent pitches. Small shop on the site what has all necessities. Morrisons / Lidl are about 4 miles away in Denbigh. Entertainment at weekends (bingo caller is hilarious, plus music or Karaoke) in a small outbuilding. No licensed bar which is an advantage as you just take your own !

There is also a free pool table and a tv (free view channels) and a dart board, so if the weather gets a bit much you can take cover for a while as it's always open.
We were in a large group of 6 families, but there were other smaller groups and individual families, plus the static caravans.

BBQ's / fires are allowed so long as you take care of the grass. We had a bit of an accident as one BBQ singed the grass, but we reported it to the owner who was fine about it. We also had some family day visitors which we reported to the owners in case there was a fee - not a problem, everyone welcome and no cost.

Everyone got on great and the kids all mixed and played together across the site.
As a group we try a different site the same week each year, but have agreed we will be back next year. Had a ball !

    Disliked:

Nothing (except weather was a bit ropey at times but that's the UK for you !).

From the manager...

Thanks see you all soon

Nothing to complain about at all.....Bobby and Nita were fantastically helpful, very friendly,. As a group of eight tents during our stay, we were made to feel very welcome by them and also by the people who have their own permanent caravans on site.
From children to adult, not one person had any complaint whatsoever, and , as it may not be to everyone's liking, for our group, it was perfect, and will definitely be booking again next year.
For the kids, they were kept off their phones and tablets, and enjoyed the art of playing together, from five years old to seventeen...and had the space to play and explore, but , most of all, enjoy

    Disliked:

The main road between site and you let block as it was national speed limit so kids couldn't cross by themselves.

The bloke who runs the site was friendly enough

    Disliked:

The toilets were dirty and stank, the electric kept cutting out, 10:30 at night after the bingo teenagers running round banging on tents and caravans, the games room needs rebuilding, cold damp room with a few tables, pool table with no pool cues, national speed limit road in between sites we needed to cross this road to get to the children's park, which other parents find it acceptable to let young children cross on their own, and the parks swing hasn't been fixed since the last person commented back in august, the list goes on

From the manager...

Hi the flush has been fixed to stop any smell. The new pool cues have arrived and will be hired out to stop kids braking them week in and week out the pool is free.
the electric has now been sorted and are all 16amp.
the swings have been fixed for the tenth .time since august and better ones have been orded .
The games room (the barn) is not for every one and the kids just wreck it all the time .

Friendly owner, camp fires allowed, dogs allowed on leads, no restriction on tent size. Children's play area on main field, good location.

    Disliked:

No hot water in showers or running taps, apart from 5-6am, went Icy cold, disabled toilet/shower never had hot water. Electric points being shared between 3 pitches, so kept cutting out. We were on the overflow field, so had to cross the field, cross the road, into the main tenting area to use facilities. Not good with young children, Sloped pitches. Noise late at night from people who had been to a disco. Didn't have a no noise time limit.

From the manager...

the boiler stopped on a bank holiday, which was a night mare it has been fixed ,the electric showers were on in the mans and woman's.
we do have a cut off point and if people dont tell us the is people playing music late we cant tell them to turn it off.
we did take on to many for electric and at to do our best to keep every one happy.

Directions

From the A55 turn for St Asaph and head for Denbigh. At the large roundabout, take the second exit towards Ruthin and after half a mile you will come to another roundabout. Take the exit for Denbigh town centre. Head for the town centre and take the second turning on your left signposted Saron (5 miles) and the site is on the T-junction.

Local attractions

Hike the Denbigh moors and head to Gwylfa Hiraethog, the ruins of an old shooting lodge that’s rumoured to be haunted; less hair-raisingly, the moors also have fishing, canoeing and sailing on the reservoir Llyn Brenig, where there’s a visitor centre, café and info on the local area.

The coniferous Clocaenog Forest is also on the moors and has several clear walks with views to Snowdonia and the Berwyn range, and a walk to the highest point of the forest, The Mast. Clocaenog is one of the areas in Wales to see red squirrels, and an enclosed area in the forest has rare Przewalski wild horses.

Caer Mynydd is 15 miles from the north Wales coastline and the seaside town of Rhyl, with its sandy six-mile stretch to neighbouring Prestatyn. The Sun Centre at Rhyl has adventure pools, surf pools and waterslides, and there’s a SeaQuarium on the seafront with an underwater tunnel, sea lion show and tropical reef zone for curious little squirts. Two other seaside resorts, Llandudno and Colwyn Bay, are within easy driving distance from here.

Golfers will find several courses in the area including courses at Rhyl and Prestatyn, with the closest at Denbigh Golf Club a couple of miles from Caer Mynydd. Prefer to cast off rather than tee off? Take your tackle to Llyn Brenig for fly fishing or to St Asaph’s River Elwy to land trout and Atlantic salmon; Denbighshire’s River Dee is famous for its salmon too.

There are three castles near Caer Mynydd: Denbigh Castle with its triple-towered gatehouse; the thirteenth century Rhuddlan Castle built by Edward I, and Bodelwyddan Castle with maze, formal garden, woodland and World War I practice trenches. Elsewhere for Denbighshire history, there’s Ruthin Gaol with displays on the Victorian prison system, pretending to be a Cistercian monk at Llangollen’s Valle Crucis Abbey or taking the old steam train Llangollen Railway along the River Dee to Carrog; if the kids like steaming about, there’s a miniature railway track around Marine Lake in Rhyl.
