General

  • Peaceful award-winning park in the grounds of a 16thC farmhouse
  • Wildlife haven three miles from the coast
  • Woodland walk, immaculate amenities and campers' kitchen

Well now, this is pretty perfect.

You'll be able to spy plenty of reasons why guests return to award-winning, peaceful and popular Plas Farm Caravan Park year after year: it’s in a wildlife haven covering 12 acres of viewful Conwy countryside, is kept impeccably clean by owners John and Sian, and it comes with easy access to some of Wales’s top attractions – the beaches and coastal walks of north Wales are only three miles away and the coastal A55 road is within easy reach to get to Chester, the Isle of Anglesey and Snowdonia. And pub within walking distance and takeaway deliveries straight to one’s pitch probably help too…

John and Sian opened Plas Farm as a campsite in 2007 in the grounds of a Grade II-listed sixteenth century farmhouse and keep it at five-star standards, with spotless loos, showers with heaps of hot water, roomy pitches laid out to give maximum privacy and a campers’ kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle.

There are acres of room for the kids to run around and the farm also has its own woodland walk for dog walks.

Betws yn Rhos (voted ‘Best village in Wales’ in 2003) and its shop is a short walk away to pick up supplies; this is also where you’ll find the local pub.

Perfect, we had one of the super pitches, very quite, brilliant outlook, site is very well maintained with well kept gardens and very clean. Very warm welcome when we arrived, and it was no problem when we said our son and grandson would be staying over for a night...
We also had the best weather this year 16/6/17-22/6/17, very hot!!!.
We will be returning soon, as North Wales is not much further for us than the East Coast, 2.5 hours from Halifax.

    Disliked:

Not a fond lover of the narrow roads, but no problems as we followed the sites directions and not the sat nav,!!

One of the best sites we have been on in this country. 26/06/2017

  • Liked:

The layout of the site-the way in which the touring sites were laid out gave plenty of room, outlook, privacy and were all of a very high standard. We opted for a standard pitch and although being offered a better spec. site felt we still had one of the best pitches available ( No.37!) The hedges, grassed area's etc. were all immaculate.
The toilet facilities were also immaculate.
Not to everybody's liking but the lack of phone signal( EE) and instant access to Wi-Fi can have a positive effect on your holiday! You talk to each other, read books, listen to the RADIO and hear bird song- magic.
    Staff were exceptionally helpful.

    Disliked:

The only things I would mention are the dust clouds raised when , after dry spells, cars travel too fast on the site roads-something which happens on every caravan site we have stayed on.
Clearer signage on which bins are for re-cycling and what goes into each bin would help the mess in both sorts of bin.

Directions

Directions by car

Heading towards north Wales, leave the A55 at junction 24, follow the A547 through Abergele town centre and continue over the mini roundabout at Tesco.

Continue on straight over the following small mini roundabout and then after approximately 1.3 miles following the castle walls, take the next turning left at the crossroads signposted Rhyd y Foel/Dolwen Farm Shop.

Travel for approximately 3 miles until you reach a main crossroads then turn left onto the B5381 towards Betws yn Rhos.

Continue for half a mile passing a layby on the right and a wooden gate on the left and take the first left turning by the first house you come to after the crossroads.

Please note: if you drive into the village you have gone too far.

The road is signposted Abergele and there is a small caravan park sign. We are the first farm 200 yards on the left-hand side.

Please keep a look out for the brown 'tourist' signs with Plas Farm on them.

We recommend that you don't use satnav as it will take you on a longer route and the wrong entrance.

Please note: All distances on this page are calculated "as the crow flies" - please check actual distance depending on your mode of travel using the Get directions button above.

Local attractions

The towns of Abergele, Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Rhyl and St Asaph are all near Plas Farm and there are coastal and countryside sights and activities close to hand including watersports, steam railways, hill walking, tennis, sea fishing from Conwy Quay and landing salmon and trout in the River Conwy and River Elwy.

The golf course at Betws yn Rhos is pay and play and has rounds of nine or 18 holes: look out for the Grand Canyon…

Take your bucket and spade to Wales’s biggest seaside resort, the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno, just along the coast on the Creuddyn peninsula to see the longest pier in Wales and the views from the cable car ride up the Great Orme.

The Great Orme is a haven for wildlife and birdwatchers who come to see the seabirds nesting on the limestone cliffs: keep an eye out for puffins, shags and cormorants alongside kittiwakes and gulls, and possibly a peregrine falcon or two overhead.

Other seaside fun can be had at nearby Rhyl, which has six miles of sand and a seafront SeaQuarium; its neighbour Prestatyn (follow the sands from Rhyl); and Colwyn Bay with three miles of Blue Flag beaches.

The Welsh Mountain Zoo with exotic birds and beasts as well as locally grown farm animals is just outside Colwyn Bay.

Inland, saplings of all sizes should enjoy a day out at Snowdonia’s Greenwood Forest Park, voted the best family attraction in north Wales for three years running and with a wealth of things to do including the world’s only people powered rollercoaster, a 70-metre sledge run, four indoor play barns for rainy days and regular arts and crafts activities for crafty youngsters.

Then come back to Snowdonia for another day or two, to mountain bike around Coed Llandegla Forest (energetic) or take a trip on the spectacular Snowdon Mountain Railway to the mountain’s summit (restful).

Both the National Slate Museum and Blaenau Ffestiniog’s Llechwedd Slate Cavern are in the national park too for a subterranean squint into Welsh heritage.

Round off a Welsh history trip with a look at the castles in the area: the medieval fortress of World Heritage Site Conwy Castle and fifteenth century Bodelwyddan Castle with maze and formal garden are both less than eight miles from the farm.

For the tank to continue to work efficiently, only biological fluids must be used. Any fluids used must not contain formaldehyde or any other chemical that would kill the septic tank's essential bacteria. If you have any doubt about the suitability of your fluid, do not put it in your cassette until you have checked with the site owners, who have the suitable liquid available at the park. Thank you for your co-operation in advance.
