  • Furnished bell tent with private facilities and sole use of an acre
  • Five minutes' drive from Lampeter and half an hour from the coast
  • Horses and goats on site, plus free-range chickens for breakfast eggs
Now this is a special spot for those seeking a bit of space: settle in at Babbling Brook Glamping (part of the Coleman family’s Ceredigion smallholding) and you’ll have the run of your own acre of field – yup, all for your good selves. The five-metre bell tent (kitted out with a comfy kingsize bed, a single futon and a rollout mattress) is just one aspect of your domain. Also nearby (and all for your sole use) are a posh compost toilet, a hot shower and your cooking options. On a fine day, have a crack at cooking your dinner on the firepit before cuddling up in its warm glow to raise a glass to what’s often a spectacular sunset. Bit damp for such antics? There’s also a covered kitchen area with a two-ring gas hob and a dining table for eats in all weathers. You may have the glamping field all to yourselves, but you’ll not be alone on site. Roam around the property’s 23 acres and you’ll likely cross paths with the other residents: friendly horses who appreciate being fed an apple or two, goats to pet, alpacas to go for a walk with, and chickens whose eggs you’re welcome to snaffle for your brekkie. Naturally there’s also heaps of space for games and general running about, and a couple of brooks for overheated kids and pups to splash in. Time for some human contact? There’s a pub a mile down the road, and it's five minutes or so to drive to Lampeter for shops and restaurants.

Local attractions

Coast and country around here are both utterly fab, so best be leaving plenty of time for a bit of both. Heading seawards, it’s a half-hour drive to the coast and the pretty harbour town of Aberaeron or days on the sandy (and hound-welcoming) beach at New Quay. Fishing and dolphin-spotting trips take to the water from here too. Turning your sights inland, there are lots of lovely walks in the woods around Lampeter or beyond in the Brecon Beacons, 50 minutes away. Downhill daredevils will want to pack their mountain bikes up to hit the trails at Brechfa Forest, half an hour away (walking routes are also available if you’d like to see the scenery at a slower speed). Fishing lakes and horse riding are both within a 20-minute drive. No holiday complete without a National Trust visit? Take the 20-minute drive to Dolaucothi Gold Mines or the 25-minute jaunt to Llanerchaeron House to get your fix. Other outings to consider include Fantasy Farm Park (half an hour), the red kite feeding centre in Llanddeusant (50 minutes) and rides on the Vale of Rheidol Railway (50 minutes).
