  • Well-equipped glamping pod, a 15-minute walk from Devil's Bridge Falls
  • Peaceful setting with adjacent field and lake for scenic walks
  • Outside decking area with loungers, seating, firepit and hot tub
If catching a glimpse of the Devil's Bridge Falls is on your bucket list (as it should be), do it in style with a stay in some devilishly good accommodation – a luxury glamping pod, to be precise – 15 minutes’ walk away. Ceredigion’s Brynllwyd Glamping, 20 minutes' drive from Aberystwyth, is well-equipped for stylish breaks, with all the home comforts you’d expect plus some thoughtful extras. The pod sleeps up to five, with a double and single bed in the bedroom and double sofa bed in the lounge. There’s an ensuite bathroom too (towels and bedding are supplied), and the kitchen is set up with a hob, oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. An electric heater in the lounge and a heated towel rail in the bathroom are handy extras for that cosy vibe. The decking area outside is just as inviting, with loungers and a seating area for alfresco dining, and a firepit for grilling some grub (a welcome pack of kindling, logs and charcoal is provided to get you started). The rest of the evening can be spent under the stars in the bubbly hot tub… and a coolbox with integrated bottle opener means you don’t even need to head back inside for chilled drinks. When it’s time to stretch your legs, you can use the adjacent field at your leisure, or take a stroll around the peaceful lake – where there’s also a picnic bench for a change of scenery. A handy information pack provides details on a bunch of local attractions, and the helpful site owners are happy to pass on their local knowledge so you get the most out of your stay.

Local attractions

If you don’t fancy venturing too far, but you’re mindful of your stomach, there’s a café at Devil’s Bridge station (a 10-minute walk), where you can also catch the Vale of Rheidol Railway steam train for a pretty journey along the Rheidol Valley. For a bit of indulgence, watch chocolatiers in action and sample the goods at Sarah Bunton Chocolates (10-minute walk). The wooded and landscaped Hafod Estate (10 minutes' drive) provides plenty of marked trails for ambles with a view. More scenic walks and mountain biking can be had at Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest (10 minutes), which has views of Cardigan Bay and the Cambrian Mountains. It’s a good spot to see red kites being fed, too. If you fancy a fix of sea air, Aberystwyth (25 minutes) is a fine choice, with its promenade and pier, as is a visit to the sandy beaches of Ynyslas (35 minutes) or Aberaeron (45 minutes). For watery wildlife, go dolphin spotting from New Quay (an hour).
