- Lovely campsite in Angus Glen with direct access to the Cateran Trail
- Basic facilities including an eco-friendly toilet and mains water.
- Peaceful place with great views of the hils
Cateran Camping is a quiet retreat on the hills of Angus Glens. Come and relax in the spacious, green meadow and enjoy a back-to-basics camping experience. The campsite is brand new for 2016 and it provides essential facilities: an eco-toilet and a mains water. The site also has a central campfire where guests can gather around in the evening to share some bedtime stories and toast their marshmallows.
The owners welcome families, couples, solo travellers and considerate small groups. Guests are surrounded by sheep farming countryside with a great deal of wildlife and ground nesting birds too. For this reason, the owners ask that all pets are kept on the lead.
The park is situated right on the Cateran Trail long distance walking path and provide a welcome stopping point between Glen Isla and Alyth.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.

The Cateran Trail long distance walking path is right on the doorstep. The site is also a short distance from Lintrathen Loch and the Wee Bear Cafe which has a great reputation for yummy home baking, just what you need before a good trek.
Peel Farm farm shop is a short cycle or car drive away from the site. Local towns of Kirriemuir, Alyth and Blairgowrie offer cafes and shopping. One of the owners' favourite Sunday outings is to walk over the hill on a 5-mile ramble to the excellent Glen Isla Hotel for a gorgeous lunch and a pint of local beer before walking back home. Stay for the weekend and you could walk the next day to Alyth and eat at the Losset Inn or Lands of the Loyal.
The main attraction though is being situated in a peaceful glen with wonderful opportunities to walk, cycle, run, kayak and horse-ride in the area. If you manage to exhaust the wonderful walking in the glens and want to travel a little further, you are just one hour by car away from Braemar and Balmoral with yet more awe-inspiring landscapes to explore in the Dee Valley.
The royal theme continues with Glamis Castle to the south. The site is 40 minutes drive north from Dundee, offering museums, art galleries and everything that a city should offer.
