  • Twenty minutes' drive or 40-minute bus journey to Princes Street
  • Book a pitch, camping pod or luxury lodge with hot tub
  • Local bus to Edinburgh every ten minutes

We won't dither about whether to highlight the accommodation or the location of Drummohr Caravan Park in lovely Lothian, for both are equally topping.

Roll up in your tourer or motorhome, come along with your tent, or book one of the roomy on-site accommodation options: shapely octolodges and well-proportioned hexilodges, ensuite camping bothies and fully-equipped lodges, several with hot tubs (always on our holiday tick list).

The placement of the park is pretty perfect too, with Edinburgh in one direction and the hikes of the East Lothian countryside in the other – the Edinburgh to Prestonpans section of the 134-mile path John Muir's Way passes within five minutes of the site. More? The sands and shoreline of the coast are a few miles away and there's even a golf club (the Royal Musselburgh) right next door…

Like the accommodation and grounds, the Drummohr amenities are modern, clean and well-maintained by William and his team: two tiled shower and loo blocks, each with chemical disposal and a fully-equipped laundry room with metered laundry facilities. Drinking water points and waste disposal are both close to the spacious pitches.

Our final, favourite little touch? The children's playground right in the centre of the site, to occupy the offspring while parents get prune-like in the hot tubs.
