Campsites in Edinburgh, Lothian

12 bookable campsites within 15 miles of Edinburgh Sorted by distance

Here’s a nifty Pitchup.com tip: if anyone asks how many events you’re planning to attend at an Edinburgh festival, the correct answer is ‘A lot’. Here’s another: book an Edinburgh campsite if you fancy experiencing the Fringe benefits, festivals, shopping and sightseeing of Scotland’s capital. That way, clever peeps, you’ll have more pennies set by for Princes Street, pints and a thousand or three comedy, music and all manner of performing arts events on city slicker days – but your Edinburgh camping hol can also include the city surrounds, coastline and beaches, and the countryside of the Lothians (East, West and Mid.) And the Pentland Hills, Peebles and the Scottish Borders aren’t a huge distance away either…

For your first two weeks, though, we’d recommend being in the city (not quite long enough, but still). Among the musts are Scotland’s most visited attraction Edinburgh Castle and the National Museum of Scotland in Old Town; and Princes Street, the National Gallery of Scotland and the National Storytelling Centre of Scotland in New Town. Scotland’s second most visited attraction, Edinburgh Zoo, is on Corstorphine Hill with corking city views and – another nifty tip – is within a short drive of sandy Silverknowles Beach.
