Long Beach campsite is located close to Inverie, the main village on the remote Knoydart peninsula on the West Coast Highlands. You can only get here by catching a small ferry from Mallaig, or by walking in from Glenfinnan (2-3 days) or Loch Hourn (1-2 days). See our website for more information on getting here.
Members of the Knoydart Community got together to form the Knoydart Foundation back in 1999, and through fundraising and much hard work they achieved a community buy-out of over 17,000 acres of the peninsular, which they continue to manage 15 years later.
The campsite is run by the Knoydart Foundation Ranger Service, and monies from pitch fees are used to fund the service, with any profit generated being re-invested back in the site. Facillaties include a NatSol compost toilet, a log scribe shelter cabin and a cold water tap.
Fees for 2015 are £4 for a tent with one person, and £3 for each additional person in that tent. Sociable dogs are welcome, and free (please pick up after them). The campsite is open all year round and there is no need to book in advance.
