General
- Peaceful wooded glampsite on the banks of the River Enrick
- A 10-minute drive from Loch Ness and 20 from Glen Affric
- Barbecue area on site and access to the river for fishing
For stays amid spectacular scenery, set your sights on BCC Loch Ness Glamping, a peaceful and rural family-run place in a cracking Highlands location on the banks of the River Enrick and about six miles from Loch Ness.
As well as touring around the lake, it’s a fine idea to check out the gorgeous greenery of Glen Affric and Glen Strathfarrar, wander to some local waterfalls and seek out ancient sites such as the Corrimony Chambered Cairn too. The nearest major hub – Inverness – is a 40-minute drive away.
All sorts of outdoorsy activities are close by when staying at this park that’s part of the Bearnock Country Centre, including mountain biking, golf, fishing and pony trekking. You can also use it as a comfy place to chill out while on a Munro-bagging adventure.
The park’s estate is a very fine place to stroll around too: the units are set up in a wooded glade packed with native trees (including wild cherry, silver birch, sycamore and the like) and, depending on the season, wildflowers such as bluebells, foxgloves and daffodils bloom across the grounds. Kids are welcome to paddle in the river and wield fishing nets to see if they can scoop out any of the small trout.
Facilities at this dog-friendly site include a play area and free wifi, and there’s a covered barbecue area where you can continue your outdoorsy theme with a bit of alfresco cookery.

Local attractions
History is all around this Scottish site: set off for the Bronze Age Corrimony Chambered Cairn (five minutes’ drive), then try to spot the mythical monster at the Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition (10 minutes) or on boat trips along the infamous lake from Drumnadrochit (10 minutes).
Visiting Urquhart Castle (15 minutes), a ruined medieval fortress, is also a prime choice for getting views across the very same body of water (without having to bob along on board a vessel).
Veer away from the loch to Glen Affric (20 minutes), a 30-mile stretch of old woods and moorland for walks or point your compass towards Dog Falls (20 minutes) and Plodda Falls (25 minutes) if you like having a specific spot to stroll towards.
Keen to rest those legs while indulging in a bit of angling? Get to Glen Strathfarrar (40 minutes) for lochside and river fishing. Alternatively, you can give your golf clubs a gentle workout on the nine-hole Aigas course (half an hour).
