Rugged coastline, mild climate, fishing and birdwatching from shore and boat, views overlooking the lush waters of Luce Bay…those whannon all these on a scenic Scottish break will find them at the friendly Clashwhannon Caravan Park in Stranraer, a fishing fairyland snuggled into the southern part of the Rhins at Drummore and surrounded by water on three sides for an island feel.

This corner of unspoilt Scotland is known for its fishing and birdwatching, or you might just want to let others in your party expend the energy while you sit back and take in the views…you can always meet up later for top nosh and a drink at Clashwhannon’s on-site bar.

Or, if you want to stroll off site, there are two pubs within half a mile.

You can travel light for a Clashwhannon trip apart from your fishing rods and binoculars: the static caravans here are fully equipped, and are double-glazed so will be toasty at any time of year.

Facilities are modern and sparklingly clean, and there’s a launderette and wifi on site.

The amiable owners Martin and Louise can even arrange to pick you up from public transport if you need it – now that’s what we call a chilled out Galloway getaway…

Clashwhannon is within easy reach of the ferry terminal at Stranraer for anyone arriving from or going on to Ireland.
