Direct access from the park

General

  • Secluded seaside family park
  • Direct access to a spectacular sandy beach
  • Shop, takeaway, picnic and outdoor play area

What a secluded and sandy Scottish sojourn can be had at Sandyhills Bay Holiday Park: it's by the sea with smashing views over the bay and has direct access to a beaut beach.

And it's in lush locale for foresty and nature walks too, as it's close to the RSPB reserve at Mersehead and the walking trails and wildlife of Dalbeattie Forest. More? Sandyhills is also near the yachting village of Kippford and shooting down slopes on the world-famed 7stanes mountain bike trails, and has an 18-hole golf course, riding centre and an indoor swimming pool with restaurant all a short walk away.

The Sandyhills Bay facilities are kept to excellent standards and include a modern heated toilet and shower block, a launderette, covered washing-up sinks and a play area splendidly set beside the sand dunes. A well-stocked shop is next to reception along with a beach takeaway and picnic tables. Wardens are on site if you need any help or info during your stay.

And yet more evidence of Sandyhills Bay's lush locale? The spectacular coastal walk to Rockcliffe, shown on More 4's Walks with my Dog programme starts from the park.

Lovely location and well thought out site. The proximity to the long safe beach was fabulous ( but watch the tides)coupled with wide open spaces on the site was great. The site was quiet, the staff very helpful and amenities clean. Access to the pool and bar resteraunt was useful, the food at the resteraunt was very good and not expensive and the drinks not overpriced as with other sites.
The price for a night was very competitive and therefore value for money.
A bus service to dalbeatie and dumfries was outside the main entrance with local busses running during the day but not often and finishing early.

    Wifi is available on site

If I had youngsters I would be happy to stay at the site for holidays although bring enough to occupy them I.e. Outdoor games. As an adult it was very pleasant.

Great views at the beach and a lovely drive in fro either direction. Keep an eye out for wildlife and rapters.

    Disliked:

Waste segregation could have been better or if it's in place better marked.

Took mum and the two dogs on their first camping experience and she absolutely loved it and can't wait to come back. Shame it was a wet and windy weekend but that didn't put us off.

We loved absolutely everything about the site. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the facilities were good and so clean. The location is just superb. There was plenty nice walks around to take the dogs and beach was a stones throw away.

Probably time to update the shower block and add at least one shower per side.
The kids area very basic though it made them use their imaginations. Perhaps a new swing with two on?
Could not get on the wi fi and help line didn't work.
