Quiet site people very helpful and friendly.

    Disliked:

Chemical disposal. It was a toilet outside with no flush only a hose. Very smelly.
Main toilet block requires modernisation although clean enough.
Midges were out in force possibly due to site having trees

There were too many "rules" on this campsite! The people who own static caravans on this site think they own the place and can say/do what they like. Only 2 children per pitch maximum, games to be kept to a minimum! They may aswell have said no fun allowed! My 2 stepsons aged 17 and 20 were throwing a large rugby ball type thing to each other next to our tent. One of the owners of the static caravans came out and shouted at them to stay away from his caravan and car (they were no where near it!) and began spouting the rules, wringly I may add as we had a printed copy! The owners of the static caravans clearly dont like sharing their site with others. This is the reason we won't be camping here again and I wouldn't recommend it if you want to enjoy yourselves. The curtains twitched from the minute we got there to the minute we left.

From the manager...

Hi, We are sorry to hear that your stay with us was not what you expected. The park rules which we have in place are for everyone to have an enjoyable experience and everyone is given these rules when booking on our site. We do have on site a large field where children and adults can play safely and not disturb other guests.

You can't knock it. 10/08/2017

I can't really knock anything about this place. It's focused on caravans rather than campers but the camping pitches aren't bad. Found them to be a bit rocky. Lost a couple of pegs to bends whilst pitching.

Electric hook up worked great. People were friendly.

There was also a bar but I never used it because we had our dogs. The campsite is dog friendly so long as dogs are on the lead. Not sure if the bar was, although I never asked.

Local attractions

Fill your boots by hiking one of the many interesting walks nearby: the 42 or so miles of River Ayr Way follows the banks of the waterway which passes the park; for a shorter ramble, Twa Brigs takes in two historic crossing points, a Bronze Age hut and a fab picnic spot; or for a challenge, scale all 1,944 feet of Cairntable.

Golfers can tee off at the nine-hole Muirkirk Golf Club; anglers can chance their arm fishing some brown trout out of Glenbuck Loch, or on the upper stretches of the River Ayr (permits available locally), and petrolheads may be able to take in a rally stage or some motor tests at the East Ayrshire racing track.

Muirkirk is only 15 miles from the sea, and also in reach of the city lights and cultural attractions of Glasgow and Edinburgh, 40 and 50 miles away.
