In the write up, it said you had a bar on site, what wasn't mentioned was it only opened weekends. It also stated fishing on site, again not true. We asked where to get a permit from and was told, don't know.

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments, Fishing permits use to be available from the local shops but since your review I have tried to locate where they can now be obtained without success so I am in the process of removing fishing off the website. I also apologize for not updating the Club opening hours.

    The Clubhouse
Is leased from the Caravan Site Owners and is run by seperate, lovely people! We stayed the Easter weekend and they had put on a great Easter Egg Hunt and party at the Clubhouse for the local and visiting kids.
Absolutely fantastic bar prices and great three course meal on offer for amazing price!
Made to feel like part of the family in an instance! Would visit The Clubhouse again if passing by as....

    Disliked:

I would not return to use the Caravan Site.

When we arrived on Saturday midday the reception was closed and we had to hunt down the owners. Then showed us where the pitch was then left us to it.

Got our tourer and awning set up, took ourselves a walk around the park to find amenities.

The toilets and shower block were clean, although no hot water for hand washing.
Dishwashing area was one double sink, and I am 5ft 6" tall and the sinks were at a height perfect for me but others may struggle.

Chemical Disposal is an actual WC toilet surrounded by a wooden pen. There is a water hose inside the pen, but it didn't work.

There is no lighting in the Caravan Site, when we asked the owner why the lights, which are clearly visible throughout the Site, were not switched on. The owner stated "Those are not lights they are ornaments".
The site is pitch black at night so if visiting this site I would recommend a flash light for dog walking and for running to the toilet.

There is no restaurant and multiple takeaways in the village as suggested by the Caravan website. There is one pub, no food served and one chip shop that also does some Chinese food, that doesn't keep to it's opening hours btw.
The nearest fantastic chip shop after Muirkirk is in Cumnock which is a 10mile drive away, and it has the closest supermarket Asda too.

On our last night, Bank Holiday Monday of the Easter weekend. The Clubhouse was not open as promised by the Caravan Site Owners on their website.
Listening to your own music in the privacy of your own tourer is frowned upon by certain season pitch owners and therefore the Site Owners.

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments. I am sorry the clubhouse was not open on the Monday. I would be grateful for the return of the water pump that was "borrowed" from a caravan that was in storage.

Local attractions

Fill your boots by hiking one of the many interesting walks nearby: the 42 or so miles of River Ayr Way follows the banks of the waterway which passes the park; for a shorter ramble, Twa Brigs takes in two historic crossing points, a Bronze Age hut and a fab picnic spot; or for a challenge, scale all 1,944 feet of Cairntable.

Golfers can tee off at the nine-hole Muirkirk Golf Club; anglers can chance their arm fishing some brown trout out of Glenbuck Loch, or on the upper stretches of the River Ayr (permits available locally), and petrolheads may be able to take in a rally stage or some motor tests at the East Ayrshire racing track.

Muirkirk is only 15 miles from the sea, and also in reach of the city lights and cultural attractions of Glasgow and Edinburgh, 40 and 50 miles away.
