  • Peaceful family park with loch and mountain views
  • Fishing, mini beach and private jetty
  • Communal lounge with TV and games, play area and family amenities
If you've ever seen Loch Lomond, you'll have spotted right away that it's one of the lushest and most peaceful places in all the land (and that surely is saying something). A holiday here at some stage is a must – and if you want quiet and safe surroundings, well-maintained pitches and a bit of angling action thrown in, settle yourself for a stay at Loch Lomond Holiday Park. The setting here is sublime, just off the A82 but right on the lochside, among spectacular greenery and with easy access to the site's private jetty and small sandy beach. It's near the hamlet of Inveruglas on the west shore of Loch Lomond, within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park and about 13 miles from the Loch Lomond Park Centre. Quad biking, castles, boat cruises, sailing and kayaking are all easily available in under an hour. Among the well-kept facilities are a play area and a lounge with TV and games. You can also cast your line off around the site to see what fishy specimens can be landed. Also on site are clean and tidy toilet and shower blocks (with family facilities), a washing-up area and a launderette.

Liked: Amazing location right on the shore of the lake. Very clean facilities and dedicated toilet shower block for the motorhome pitches. Great welcome pack with details of local walks.

Disliked: The rain!! Despite dressing for the weather it really did take the shine away, but we will definitely be coming back to spend more time here.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Large pitch made available. Late check in and the security team were very accommodating, leaving pitch details on reception board and quick to answer the phone. Very clean facilities. Lovely, clean site with fantastic views.

Disliked: WiFi said it was free and to put in a code but when clicked on it tried to charge so decided not to use.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely situation on the side of Loch Lomond. Easy to find. Good size, well serviced pitches.

Disliked: Disappointing shower block with only one shower in each changing area. Slippery shower trays but there was a warning. Could have had grab rails in case of a slip. Could do with a non slip surface on slope up to shower. Also rail at side of slope was very bobbly.

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely, clean, friendly, location was amazing… all facilities were good (apart from WiFi)

Disliked: Despite paying for the WiFi at the site - where I was situated (plot 1) I couldn’t receive the WiFi as the strength was to weak… Also on arrival couldn’t get in the barrier despite calling the numbers given. Thankfully there was another visitor behind me who knew it

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: A very pleasant facility priced well and with good amenities. It would be a good place to stay over a longer holiday, situated tight on the northwest shore of Loch Lomond with its beauty and charm. The reception were helpful and always ready to answer the questions we had when we arrived.

Disliked: It is very unfortunate not to have free access to Wi-Fi and, perhaps worse in our case, no Wi-Fi at all, since even the paid-for option could not be accessed and there was no way to approach the ISP to get this resolved (it was at a time when they were closed). In addition, the shower facility is inadequate, only one female and one male unit provided for up to 12 motorhomes to use. Although the male showers were clean, I understand that the female showers were rather dirty at the time we were there.

Local attractions

The loch – and beach – should keep you and the family/dog busy for a day or three after arriving at the park; after that, plenty more activities and attractions are easily had within driving distance. You could, for example, check out the views over Lochgoilhead (about 30 minutes’ drive west and much recommended), or get out onto the local waters with a Loch Lomond cruise or a guided canoe trip among the spectacular scenery of Loch Goil. Cycling, walking and fishing as well as shopping, restaurants and bars at Portavadie Marina 90 minutes' drive south-west; for more food, a famed and closer option in this area is the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar in Cairndow half an hour’s drive west, a place of acclaimed seafood and smashing views. Also at Cairndow, the Fyne Ales brewery is an environmentally-friendly venture set up in old farm buildings at Achadunan, with tours and a shop open to visitors. There's also the Ardkinglas estate, a 13th-century house with over 12,000 acres of hills and landscaped parkland (although do check its opening hours before you set off). Other options are Inveraray Castle, 40 minutes to the west; Inveraray Jail (with ghost hunting available) and Auchindrain Township Museum, just under an hour’s drive west.
