This part of the Somerset countryside was made for peaceful pursuits and famous local attractions. Whether you're all about meandering through the Mendips or have your heart set on cycle rides along the Kennet and Avon Canal or Somerset Coalfield cycle path, you can be sure of finding plenty of interesting nearby activities at Farleigh Road Camping, a farm site conveniently located half a mile from the A36.
This relaxed and friendly spot is a top option for either a quick stop on cross-country journeys or longer breaks in the hills of inland Somerset. Calm countryside, farm shops (the nearest is a quarter of a mile down the road) and traditional country pubs like the 700-year-old inn in Norton St Philip (half a mile) all help keep the pace here nice and leisurely…
There's also a good range of facilities at Farleigh Road Camping. A site office and noticeboard for information are handy during your stay, while a 'do it yourself' barbecue hut, a social hut and a pretty pond help make this small-scale site stand out. Other amenities like fresh water taps across the site, a purpose-built toilet block and waste disposal points for tourers are also likely to come in handy.

Local attractions
Farleigh Road Camping is about a mile and a half from Farleigh Hungerford Castle, a former fortified mansion house on the river Frome. Head here for gory stories in the crypt, to see rare medieval wall paintings in the chapel or to learn about three centuries of the Hungerford family through a free audio guide.
The Georgian city of Bath (15 minutes' drive) is another must-see when travelling around here – the city's got everything from amazing Roman heritage to costumed actors who look like they've just stepped out of a Jane Austen novel, plus a spectacular medieval abbey and the unmistakable Royal Crescent. To take it all in in style, head to the jetty by Pulteney Bridge for an hour-long boat cruise of Bath's top sights.
For a change of scene, drive south towards the Westbury White Horse (20 minutes), or see real-life animals from all corners of the earth at Longleat Safari Park (20 minutes). Other top country estates like Stourhead (25 minutes) and Dyrham Park (30 minutes) are within reach too, while for independent shops and eateries you have fab market towns like Frome (15 minutes) or Bradford-on-Avon (10 minutes).
