General

Our small and friendly campsite and touring park is on our farm in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the middle of the Mendip Hills, with views across the Chew Valley.

Placed next to our bluebell wood, it is an idyllic spot and a great base to experience all that the Mendip Hills and Chew Valley have to offer. If you fancy getting back to nature but still would like to get out and about into civilisation then Nettwood is the place for you.

Lovely views, fantastic wildlife, unspoilt countryside and plenty of peace and quiet (apart from the wonderful birdsong!) are what have to offer along with clean toilets and showers and a small play area for our little friends.

Due to popular demand we will be opening our Lake View field from May this year. New facilities include four extra showers, four more toilets and an extra washing-up station from the spring. No more queuing for a shower!

Campfires/barbecues are most welcome but please be considerate to fellow campers. We are happy for you to collect fallen wood from our woods to help you on your way.

Directions

From the M4 take Exit 18 to Bath, then the A4 out of Bath west. Take the A39 south.

Turn right at Green Ore onto the B3135, then right onto the B3114, then first right at the Castle of Comfort pub. After just over a mile go down a hill on the right, and up a long track.

Turn right into field.

This is the safe easy route if towing a caravan. There are quicker more direct routes - go around Bath, then take the A39 and A368 to West Harptree, left to East Harptree, right into East Harptree, then a staggered junction and up the hill and we're 1.6 miles on left. Turn right into the field (having driven through the wood).

From the M5 (coming from north)
Take Exit 20 at Clevedon, then the B3133 south (Congresbury). At Langford turn right onto the A38, then left onto the A368 (at Churchill traffic lights). Turn right onto the B3114 (Burrington Coombe); head along the top of the Mendips, then take the second left at the Castle of Comfort pub. Go down the hill after just over one mile on the right, then up a long track.

Local attractions

Step out onto one of the local footpaths or test your fitness on one of the many cycle routes.

There are two fishing lakes a short drive away and two local golf courses.

Another short car journey (ten minutes) will take you through Cheddar's famous gorge. Experience the caves, cheese-making and cider, and - for the energetic - climbing, abseiling, potholing or caving.

The little ones will love a trip to Wookey Hole with caves to explore, a great play area, crazy golf and a lively circus.

Wells, a small city with a laid-back feel, is within a 15-minute drive and has a stunning cathedral, a lovely twice-weekly traditional market and great pubs and eateries.

We have two local pubs in our village, both serving excellent food and very different in nature. Both have lovely child-friendly gardens. A village shop is down in the village for all your essentials. The pubs and shop are a two-minute car journey or an energetic 15-minute walk.

If you fancy travelling a little further afield then the following places are all within a 30-minute drive:

Bath: a Roman city with its Thermae Spa, Royal Cresent and open-top bus tours. Why not try a ghost or comedy walk?

Bristol: a maritime city with a lively harbourside area, the SS Great Britain, Clifton Suspension Bridge and, of course, for the shoppers amongst us, Cabot Circus.

Weston-super-Mare: a local seaside resort, has a newly built pier and SeaQuarium.

Must see

  • Ebbor Gorge National Nature Reserve (4.0 miles)
