Quantock Orchard Caravan Park

This area had the worst of the Easter storm, the other Parks in the area were all closed due to being water logged. There was a general power cut in the area due to the bad weather completely out of our control, so this was not our fault, so that comment was totally unfair.
As in previous reviews WE DO NOT GUARANTEE HARD STANDINGS, I have altered the description on the pitch types to be all grass for all types of booking, if you would like to request a hard standing in future you must telephone us direct after you make your booking on pitch-up and request this, it will not be guaranteed but subject to availability, the general rule is the longer the booking will get you the first option, if you stay a week at a time then this will be more likely.
With regard to the welcome we are in the middle of the winter season still - it is very likely the shop will be closed, however we will see you come in from the office in the house, if you phone we will come to meet you in a few minutes. At this time of the year a comment like this is unfair, it would a different matter in July and August, but not now.

We are still in the middle of Winter/Early Spring, we don't have the staff yet to do everything at once, we keep the toilet block to the highest possible standard as far as sanitary is concerned but in the Winter because the weather is still wet we can't deal with people's muddy feet more than once a day. The staff are spending all their time painting, repairing the infrastructure of the park getting it ready for the Summer Season, I think people have to be fair and understanding with a small family business we don't have the hands to go round.
The good news is that the internal roads are now pot hole free, this was completed this weekend, the bad weather this year has given us quite a beating - next two weeks the work is to deal with the access road - this does illustrate what we are up against there are only so many hours in the day with the staff we have available.
Please be fair and understanding the situation will be quite different in two months time as we are working towards a target date.

to let everyone know the Winter repair work is now progressing, the paintwork around the entrance has been completed, the toilet block and shop have been painted inside and out
Work still to be done by the end of March is painting the leisure centre inside and out, and repairs to the Park's roads.
We have ordered new mattresses for the static caravans and one of the vans is to have new carpets.

Please - we are in the dead of the Winter, we run single handed in the Winter as we can't really do more than we did, it's quite unfair to expect any more at this time of the year.
It will be a different matter when the Summer comes.
This year has been very wet with a great number of storms, it has played hell with the roads, this is something that we are going to address as soon as the weather starts to settle down, but it's pointless doing it now as the weather will only wash the stones out again as soon as we put them in.
We are a small site it should not be a problem finding things as everything is marked up with signs, customers really don't need out help.

This was at a time when very few parks are open, we run in the Winter will the absolute bare minimum staff and ground work, so these comments are not fair as it was winter and not during the time when the great majority of visitors are with us.
So please don't the conditions in the dead of Winter will be the same in times when the weather will be far better.
Keeping a Park in good condition in the winter when there are high winds and very cold conditions are impossible.
We never guarantee hard standings , and our pitches will take PVs up to 35 feet long, there was not a van on site over the period this customer was there, so again this comment is unfair.

Coming from the furniture I think it's a good idea to explain the completely different design of the beds in these static caravans. In a household bed there are springs in both the base and in the mattress, on a static caravan bed only the mattress has springs , this will result in a firmer sleep.
We can only provide what the caravan supplier designs into the unit, with this in mind please don't expect hotel comfort as this is not possible.

The MV pitches are offered as mixed type pitches that is either type as available.
There is a notice on the shop door in both English and German for customers who need our help to come to the house and ring the door bell, you can't miss the house by the main gate.

On the night in question we had the strongest storm possible the combination of the strong winds lifted the skylight slightly and the wind drove the rain water in - in view of the weather conditions this really could not he helped, due to the good condition of these vans there was not further damage.
Our staff inspected the shower and could not find anything wrong with it, it worked perfectly.
However as this is a quality park we do have fully heated wash rooms available including a bathroom which as far as I know not other park has this.
It should be remembered that a static holiday home is not a hotel it is what it is.
