General

  • Beautiful grounds and top-notch on-site facilities
  • Adventure playground, table tennis and video games room for kids
  • Pool, gym, sauna and steam room available

The pristine perfection of this park has earned plaudits aplenty, including ‘Best Site in the West of England’. Encircled by the beautiful Quantock Hills, its views are pretty flawless too..

The facilities at Quantock Orchard Caravan Park are extensive, and as well manicured as the grounds. There’s an outdoor pool open May to September, and a decent-sized gym, which also houses a sauna and steam room for visitors to bubble and steam away their cares. Plus a well-provisioned shop, wifi, and good essential amenities, including plenty of service points for motorhomes, water and so forth. Little monkeys can scale, swing and slide their way around the adventure playground, or have a go at pool, table tennis and the video games in the games room. The owners also welcome tail waggers, provided they’re kept on a lead.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 24/05 and 20/09 (subject to weather conditions).

    Disliked:

This site is nothing like the photos, i’m sure it was a very good site in the past but now it’s tired and shabby everything needs a good clean spraying Bleach everywhere does not surfice. The price per Night needs reviewing as £21 for what you get is too much, if we hadn’t paid upfront we would of left after one Night.

From the manager...

We are very disappointed with this review, we have spent a lot of money on the park this year, it is actually in a far better condition than in previous years, we have reroofed the toilet block, repainted all the static vans inside, replaced all the carpets. My Wife has worked very hard growing flowers and making hanging baskets, there are twenty three of these all of which have taken a lot of time and need watering every night.
£ 21 is actually very cheap the price should be around £ 36 per night to be economic.
No one left early after one night, so this can not be a true review.
We have spent a fortune on upgrading the park this year and it really shows.
We think there is a group of people sent by another park to write undeserved poor reviews, you will find that there will be a number of really good reviews from real customers that will follow as we have been very busy with Pitchup customers in the last few weeks.

Good but go out of school holidays. 05/06/2018

Pitch area - very mature with plants and nicely separated.
    Swimming pool area.
    Good location.

    Disliked:

Toilets and showers could be cleaner.
When we stayed half term holidays there was a big group in tents (about 30 adults) with lots of children running around the site screaming and playing until 11 pm. Saying that will return but out of school holidays when I am sure it will be quieter.

From the manager...

A good review, we were of course very busy, the showers were in contact use with a large number of children some of which became very muddy, our staff did their very best to keep cleaning up, but as soon as they had finished someone else made a mess..
After the first night we realised that the children were out on site and asked the parents to get the children inside by 10PM which they did.
When children are about we do all we can to keep them under control ,but these days it is impossible, we are not however an adults only Park.
Children are the future of this industry when they grow up some will go camping, please don't blame them for being young. We were young once.

Appalling behaviour of a large group of guests on Friday, including gangs of children running through pitches and tripping over guy lines, very loud music and drunken shouting and swearing until 2am in the morning preventing any chance of sleep. My girlfend told me the walls of the ladies toilets had been smeared with faeces and blood and one of the handbasins contained green phlegm. Very nasty! Loud music and raucous behaviour through the day on Saturday too, I actually saw that one of the adults had organised around two dozen children into opposing lines either side of a pathway for a water bomb fight and this behaviour remained unchallenged by site management. Thankfully Saturday night was much queiter than Friday. One hopes site management may have had words but who knows? I had reported my concerns, and am confident others had too.

From the manager...

This review is not really fair, the comment about the Lady's toilet is completely untrue, we had cleaners on duty all night, the gap between cleaning was no more than half an hour to three quarters of an hour, perhaps there was an off situation between cleaning but nothing was reported to me as we would have done an extra clean if it was true.
Yes I did have a strong word with the parents on the second night, and the result was complete stillness after 10 PM.
This customer does not like children, the situation on any park changes at school holiday times this is a known fact. If you don't like Children please go to an Adults only park during school holidays, and come to us during term times

Quantock isnt a very big site but has everything you need. The pitch was level and enclosed by bushes which protected us from the weather. Facilities were all basic but were nearby and kept clean and tidy. Friendly, helpful staff and my children had a fantastic time in the pool. All in all the park was kept clean and tidy. Would definitely go to quantock again.

Showers dirty need updating - but hot and good flow pressures

From the manager...

We don't understand the comment made by this customer, these showers are cleaned every 40 minutes, so unless a customer has made then dirty between cleaning there is no way we would allow them to become dirty.
If we are very busy then there are 350 people on the park, we can't get round very minute of the day but we do keep a very high standard.

    Shop a bit sparce

From the manager...

Thank you for a nice review
we do stock in the shop enough to supply the needs of our guests however all shops are suffering from the unfair supply and marketing situation in the UK where the retail economy is dominated by large groups - the recent series of articles in the Daily Express does illustrate the problem, as a former retailer I am helping with the back ground information behind these articles - hopefully we shall end up with some reform so that all the high street are filled with independent shops and do not look the same in every town.

Over the bank holiday our staff cleaned the showers every 40 minutes or so, however it is very difficult when there are 350 people on the park - the task is impossible but we do our very best.

Liked the smallness of the site as it felt more friendly. Helpful staff, and beautiful surroundings. Lots of lovely hot water, and clean bathrooms, which are cleaned on a regular basis. Site catered for children and older people, with barbecues and a play park.

    Disliked:

I would prefer the bathroom doors to self close as it was a bit chilly in the showers when you got out.

From the manager...

Thanks for this review, we do something right and try to keep a high quality at all times.

Directions

Exit at Junction 25, then at the roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A358 signposted Taunton. Follow the A358 west around the outskirts of Taunton. The route is well marked with signs for West Somerset Railway and Butlins.

Continue following the A358 west route until you reach the Cross Keys pub near the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A358 and follow this road for 8-9 miles (12km). After Flaxpool Garage take the next left. The park entrance is immediately on the left-hand side.

Local attractions

After stuffing themselves silly in one of the foodie pubs nearby, guests can hire mountain bikes or take a hike through the glorious landscapes surrounding the park, with eyes peeled for the local wildlife, which includes Quantock ponies and red deer. There are also loads of options for golfing, fishing and horse riding in the area.

Buses run to many places around and about, but many visitors choose to let the train take the strain instead. A gentle saunter from the park is Crowcombe Heathfield Station, one of the stops on the scenic West Somerset heritage railway, whose buff engines steam through miles of lovely views to the coastal town of Minehead.

Naturally speaking, there are all sorts of interesting geographical phenomena to discover: brutally beautiful Exmoor, the plunging Cheddar Gorge, fossils and rock formations at Kilve beach, and Wookey Hole’s underground caves and lakes. Those who enjoy poking around posh country piles should check out Dunster Castle, and the beautiful gardens at Hestercombe House.
