General

  • Beautiful grounds and top-notch on-site facilities
  • Adventure playground, table tennis and video games room for kids
  • Pool, gym, sauna and steam room available

The pristine perfection of this park has earned plaudits aplenty, including ‘Best Site in the West of England’. Encircled by the beautiful Quantock Hills, its views are pretty flawless too..

The facilities at Quantock Orchard Caravan Park are extensive, and as well manicured as the grounds. There’s an outdoor pool open May to September, and a decent-sized gym, which also houses a sauna and steam room for visitors to bubble and steam away their cares. Plus a well-provisioned shop, wifi, and good essential amenities, including plenty of service points for motorhomes, water and so forth. Little monkeys can scale, swing and slide their way around the adventure playground, or have a go at pool, table tennis and the video games in the games room. The owners also welcome tail waggers, provided they’re kept on a lead.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 24/05 and 20/09 (subject to weather conditions).

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments. We are disappointed that you didn't thoroughly enjoy your holiday and we have taken your feedback on board to improve our service for our guests in the near future.
In regards to your comments. It states on pitchup you need to book bedding at an extra charge. This can be added during the booking process, if you forget or do not have room in your car this can be hired once you arrive.

In regards to the gas fire, our staff assisted this guest during their stay and they were shown the procedure to light the pilot light with a taper, this is designed for safety reasons. We are always happy to help.

Finally, the blinds have been replaced in this caravan, we apologies for not noticing this before your arrival. Unfortunately, the trees on the park stain the curtains and blinds. In addition, we often we only half an hour between customers departing and arriving, so, unfortunately, this must have missed/or it was list to replace when we had a spare moment.

  • Liked:

Personal welcoming note at reception stating which pitch to go to.
Facilities very well spaced out with not too far to go for electric, water or waste.

    Disliked:

Toilet facilities and showers a little dated however they were perfectly acceptable.
Not too much information on bins regarding re-cycling, got the impression we were the only people over our 4 day stay that were actually re-cycling at all. This is not a criticism of the site but we should all be trying harder to re-cycle when possible.

From the manager...

The Council do not collect commercial waste, and the company we use only collects 1100 litre bins and not re-cycling anything - so there nothing we can do. This company takes everything to Exeter and I believe the waste is reloaded to go to Calverts cutting - North of High Wycombe
this is a rural area this sort of thing does not go on here - yet,.
we do however take grass and hedge cuttings to the local re-cycling centre at Williton however we have heard this may close due to cost cutting, if it does we will have to go to Minehead which is not cost effective so we will give up.

From the manager...

There is many things to do in this area, even if you don't bring a car or cycle, we have a steam railway station just down the lane, you can travel lto Minehead and the villages between here and Minehead as they all have stations. There is a safe way to walk to Crowcombe village and the Quantock Hills from the Park.
In the district there is a zoo and many attractions in Minehead.
You can ravel to Taunton in the other direction with a change at Bishop's Lydeard.
There is also a bus service with a shop outside the park gate this goes from Taunton Railway Station to Minehead in both directions usually every half an hour.
We were away on holiday overseas when this customer visited, our Son who was looking after the park really helped this customer out, he drove to Bishop's lydeard to get them three types of Milk- free of charge - 10 miles round trip each time, we do try to help customers - not every one says thank you.

Directions

Exit at Junction 25, then at the roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A358 signposted Taunton. Follow the A358 west around the outskirts of Taunton. The route is well marked with signs for West Somerset Railway and Butlins.

Continue following the A358 west route until you reach the Cross Keys pub near the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A358 and follow this road for 8-9 miles (12km). After Flaxpool Garage take the next left. The park entrance is immediately on the left-hand side.

Local attractions

After stuffing themselves silly in one of the foodie pubs nearby, guests can hire mountain bikes or take a hike through the glorious landscapes surrounding the park, with eyes peeled for the local wildlife, which includes Quantock ponies and red deer. There are also loads of options for golfing, fishing and horse riding in the area.

Buses run to many places around and about, but many visitors choose to let the train take the strain instead. A gentle saunter from the park is Crowcombe Heathfield Station, one of the stops on the scenic West Somerset heritage railway, whose buff engines steam through miles of lovely views to the coastal town of Minehead.

Naturally speaking, there are all sorts of interesting geographical phenomena to discover: brutally beautiful Exmoor, the plunging Cheddar Gorge, fossils and rock formations at Kilve beach, and Wookey Hole’s underground caves and lakes. Those who enjoy poking around posh country piles should check out Dunster Castle, and the beautiful gardens at Hestercombe House.
