General

  • Beautiful grounds and top-notch on-site facilities
  • Adventure playground, table tennis and video games room for kids
  • Pool, gym, sauna and steam room available

The pristine perfection of this park has earned plaudits aplenty, including ‘Best Site in the West of England’. Encircled by the beautiful Quantock Hills, its views are pretty flawless too..

The facilities at Quantock Orchard Caravan Park are extensive, and as well manicured as the grounds. There’s an outdoor pool open May to September, and a decent-sized gym, which also houses a sauna and steam room for visitors to bubble and steam away their cares. Plus a well-provisioned shop, wifi, and good essential amenities, including plenty of service points for motorhomes, water and so forth. Little monkeys can scale, swing and slide their way around the adventure playground, or have a go at pool, table tennis and the video games in the games room. The owners also welcome tail waggers, provided they’re kept on a lead.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 24/05 and 20/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Loved the pool it was lovely to swim after a long journey.

    Disliked:

The site needs some care and it’s a little tight at the entrance.

From the manager...

The remark about the entrance can't be understood, we get 36' feet long American RV in and out and we get our own static caravans through the entrance without any problem. When this customer asked about the entrance I told them that we did drive there large vehicles through, the remark about the care was a result of them being told about this - showing them up as poor drivers.

Beautiful site gardens and great pool. Owner very welcoming and happy to help. Great family holiday location and good base to numerous nearby attractions.

    Disliked:

Caravan and facilities are dated. No access to wifi.

From the manager...

The WiFi is available, it's strongest around the shop, it does not reach all the park because the telicom supply service is not yet strong enough, but they are working of a rural area fibre optic supply.
the pass word is Somerset and free of charge.
If you refer to the previous replies to the reviews we are not allowed to change the character of the buildings, there is nothing we can do further.

Very well kept, with large shrubs between to make pitches private. Beautiful hanging baskets all around. Pool warm and clean, a real treat. Staff available, helpful, friendly and on-hand to advise on where to walk and eat. Showers were hot and powerful and as clean as they could be considering the shower block is an old building.A wonderful base to explore the Quantocks,Exmoor and the beautiful coastline. A bonus having the steam railway only 1/4 of a mile away. Lovely stay and we shall return again.

    Disliked:

The water tap near our pitch (opposite the shop) could have done with a short length of hose attached to stop the spray of water from the tap.

From the manager...

Just to let you know we are not allowed to attach hoses to the drinking water tapes, this is a health and safety regulation ordered by Wessex Water.
We can take US 36' RVs through the entrance but they need our guidance, if you do please ask.

    Quiet site.

    Disliked:

Could have a better stocked shop.

From the manager...

Just to let you know we do increase the stock levels during the high season, however we can't sell things like meat, vegs.. and so on , except in tins.
Currently we have lots of sweats, drinks and basic items such as Milk, bread, spreads, sauces, crisps and so on.
This like Newspapers are ordered for the following day.

You only have to read in the newspapers how difficult shop keeping is these days, if companies such as the House of Fraser and John Lewis are finding it difficult it's even more difficult for the smaller outlets, but we do our very best.

Plenty of hot water, surrounding area lovely.

    Disliked:

This site is nothing like the photos, i’m sure it was a very good site in the past but now it’s tired and shabby everything needs a good clean spraying Bleach everywhere does not surfice. The price per Night needs reviewing as £21 for what you get is too much, if we hadn’t paid upfront we would of left after one Night.

From the manager...

We are very disappointed with this review, we have spent a lot of money on the park this year, it is actually in a far better condition than in previous years, we have reroofed the toilet block, repainted all the static vans inside, replaced all the carpets. My Wife has worked very hard growing flowers and making hanging baskets, there are twenty three of these all of which have taken a lot of time and need watering every night.
£ 21 is actually very cheap the price should be around £ 36 per night to be economic.
No one left early after one night, so this can not be a true review.
We have spent a fortune on upgrading the park this year and it really shows.
We think there is a group of people sent by another park to write undeserved poor reviews, you will find that there will be a number of really good reviews from real customers that will follow as we have been very busy with Pitchup customers in the last few weeks.

Directions

Exit at Junction 25, then at the roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A358 signposted Taunton. Follow the A358 west around the outskirts of Taunton. The route is well marked with signs for West Somerset Railway and Butlins.

Continue following the A358 west route until you reach the Cross Keys pub near the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A358 and follow this road for 8-9 miles (12km). After Flaxpool Garage take the next left. The park entrance is immediately on the left-hand side.

Local attractions

After stuffing themselves silly in one of the foodie pubs nearby, guests can hire mountain bikes or take a hike through the glorious landscapes surrounding the park, with eyes peeled for the local wildlife, which includes Quantock ponies and red deer. There are also loads of options for golfing, fishing and horse riding in the area.

Buses run to many places around and about, but many visitors choose to let the train take the strain instead. A gentle saunter from the park is Crowcombe Heathfield Station, one of the stops on the scenic West Somerset heritage railway, whose buff engines steam through miles of lovely views to the coastal town of Minehead.

Naturally speaking, there are all sorts of interesting geographical phenomena to discover: brutally beautiful Exmoor, the plunging Cheddar Gorge, fossils and rock formations at Kilve beach, and Wookey Hole’s underground caves and lakes. Those who enjoy poking around posh country piles should check out Dunster Castle, and the beautiful gardens at Hestercombe House.
