The facilities at Quantock Orchard Caravan Park are extensive, and as well manicured as the grounds. There’s an outdoor pool open May to September, and a decent-sized gym, which also houses a sauna and steam room for visitors to bubble and steam away their cares. Plus a well-provisioned shop, wifi, and good essential amenities, including plenty of service points for motorhomes, water and so forth. Little monkeys can scale, swing and slide their way around the adventure playground, or have a go at pool, table tennis and the video games in the games room. The owners also welcome tail waggers, provided they’re kept on a lead.

Peaceful site24/02/2020

    Peaceful site

    Disliked:

Very low quality cold caravan, no heating in twin room apart from oil heater that can’t be plugged in due to cable being too short, no extra blankets available, no tin or bottle opener provided, impossible to find staff without leaving answer phone message

From the manager...

I sorry you found the holiday home cold but these holiday homes are designed for the Summer, that why we put electric heaters as an extra in the vans in the Winter period. If this customer put the oil heater in a central position the lead would have been long enough, but because of safety (fire) we don't have plugs in the second bedroom as with most families children would have been using that bedroom. Our guess is that they tried to put the heater right next to the bed which would have been dangerous.
Yes there was a tin opener/bottle opener in the kitchen draw,
We don't have staff on duty in the Winter, once people turn in at night it would be unreasonable to expect to find any one about at night,
Holiday homes are clean and tidy they are not hotel rooms, they are what they are.

From the manager...

The leisure centre is left unlocked all the time, however because it's an extra not included in your fees we accept payment and issue a code to get in which changes daily.
The shop is always available if closed please just phone the number is on a big notice on the front door - in the dead of the Winter we do not man the shop full time it would be madness to do so.

nice smallish site, pitch sizes good and staff friendly and helpful.
Showers and toilets ok(cleaned every day).
Big plus for us a good bus service very close by(one way Taunton other way to Minehead having a fairly big motor home with no car).
Not perfect but had a good feel about it.
    Will use again.

    Disliked:

No heating in shower and toilet block(this is a minor moan)
    Will use again.

The area surrounding the park especially walking on the Quantocks

    Disliked:

Showers and toilets were very dated, terrible condensation dripping off the walls and smelt very damp and mouldy, which was the same for the games room. Can't comment on sauna as didn't use.
The so called paths were just mud.
Needs A bit of money spent on it then it would be quite nice.

From the manager...

Thank you for your comments we are disappointed that you didn't thoroughly enjoy your holiday and we have taken your feedback on board to improve our service for our guests in the near future.
In regards to your comments. Firstly, we are delighted you enjoyed the location and our customer service. You overall score however seems at alittle harsh.
Unfortunately, the last few months have been very wet, at times it has felt like continuous rainfall, which has contributed to the muddy conditions. I don't think it would matter which campsite you visited we can not prevent natural events. We did offer you a hard standing pitch though which wasn't mentioned in your comments.
As well as the wet conditions, the weather on occasions has been relatively cold as we are in the middle of the winter. This contributes to condensation. We are continually investing and looking to improve our facility block for the upcoming season. As we are open all year this sometimes this take longer than other campsites that close for a few months of the year as we have to work alongside our guests. Updates on this work can be found on our Facebook page.

    One person was not helpful
We had no electric for half the holiday ,which was over Christmas
    No gas for on night
    Moved 3 times very disappointing

From the manager...

This customer caused the electric to fail by using items not suitable and faulty which the RCD picked up for safety, once they had left we had no further problems.
It is also alleged as we found a short piece of wire in the van that they we shorting out the electric themselves by putting this wire into plugs to create a short.
They were here just before the next but one reviewer who had a wonderful time and gave a 10/10 review, this says something about this reviewers activity.

Directions

Exit at Junction 25, then at the roundabout take the fourth exit onto the A358 signposted Taunton. Follow the A358 west around the outskirts of Taunton. The route is well marked with signs for West Somerset Railway and Butlins.

Continue following the A358 west route until you reach the Cross Keys pub near the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A358 and follow this road for 8-9 miles (12km). After Flaxpool Garage take the next left. The park entrance is immediately on the left-hand side.

Local attractions

After stuffing themselves silly in one of the foodie pubs nearby, guests can hire mountain bikes or take a hike through the glorious landscapes surrounding the park, with eyes peeled for the local wildlife, which includes Quantock ponies and red deer. There are also loads of options for golfing, fishing and horse riding in the area.

Buses run to many places around and about, but many visitors choose to let the train take the strain instead. A gentle saunter from the park is Crowcombe Heathfield Station, one of the stops on the scenic West Somerset heritage railway, whose buff engines steam through miles of lovely views to the coastal town of Minehead.

Naturally speaking, there are all sorts of interesting geographical phenomena to discover: brutally beautiful Exmoor, the plunging Cheddar Gorge, fossils and rock formations at Kilve beach, and Wookey Hole’s underground caves and lakes. Those who enjoy poking around posh country piles should check out Dunster Castle, and the beautiful gardens at Hestercombe House.
