  • Beautiful pitches in an open field surrounded by woodland
  • Small veg and sheep farm, ideal for wildlife lovers
  • Campfires allowed
Camping in Nature at Vallis Veg is not a conventional site with lots of tents squeezed together in a flat field. The site is a small farm and camping here is a little bit wilder. The secluded pitches, set among young trees have been levelled and a separate field has been dedicated to groups. Facilities are basic but include a sink area for washing-up (cold running water), water tap and a compost toilet. Please note that this site has no shower facilities. The site has a covered 'A' frame structure with a firepit that campers are welcome to use so long it hasn't been booked by a private group. Some pitches have views across the countryside towards the Mendips and some others are surrounded by trees. The rough ground and vegetation onsite attract a range of wildlife, including buzzards, butterflies and moths. Badgers, deer and lovely birds have also been spotted in the area.

Route directions

Important: the site is Vallis Veg, not Vallis Farm. Please do not go to Vallis Farm! Their owners do not like to be disturbed. If you are going north up Elm lane (from Frome) take the right turn over the old cattle grid (past the small Vallis Farm sign). Pass a small parking area on the right and go up a short, steep hill. The entrance to our land is at the top of the hill on the right hand side before the cottages. Look out for our Vallis Veg sign hanging in the tree.
