General

  • Small, friendly and adults-only pub campsite
  • Extensive range of home-cooked food
  • On the bus route to Cheddar and Wells

If friendly pubs, small campsites and a peaceful kid-free vibe are the things that have you stoked on holiday, you'll like The Rodney Stoke Caravan and Camping Park, a small and friendly site behind the Rodney Stoke Inn near Cheddar and Wells.

And if you like to have heaps of choice for your dinner dishes, this is also the place for you: the pub serves a proper mix of food from an extensive a la carte menu, daily specials, a gluten-free range, sandwiches, pizza and steak nights, and meat, veggie and fish mains.

The site is run by Annette and Neil Sinclair who also manage the pub along with their amiable team, and has a loo block with hot showers. It's not far from Cheddar and Wells; if you fancy having a pint in either, leave the car at base and take the bus running to both that leaves close by.

The Rodney Stoke welcomes dogs as long as they're well-behaved, but no humans under 16, please.

Please note

This is an adults-only site. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed on site.

    Disliked:

Facilities were very adequate when the site was in 50% use. May need to wait for a toilet or shower, if site was full. We had a lovely stay.

Good clean campsite and liked the fact that it's only 2 minutes to the pub where it's good food and good sevice from the happy staff- wash room facilities clean and we'll kept

    Disliked:

Nothing really - there were very noisy campers while I was down here but that's not the fault of the campsite - just uncaring people still talking very loudly at 1:15pm when tents on a field are not sound proof - very good campsite - we'll done Rodney Stoke

Local attractions

Smashing Cheddar and its gorge, caves, cheese and ciders is less than three miles away and easy to get to by car; the Wookey Hole Caves are about three and a half miles in the other direction.

Caving and rock climbing are both available – and mighty popular – in the vicinity as well, as is golfing at the Isle of Wedmore and Mendip Springs golf clubs (crazy golf is at Cheddar too).

Also popular nearby is the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare, around 14 miles away: have a day here around the town museum, Helicopter Museum, aquarium and Grand Pier, or to take a paddle steamer on a day trip along the Severn Estuary or Bristol Channel.

Within 30 miles, history and city fans will find the old areas of Bristol and Taunton as well as historic and lovely Bath for its spas, Roman remains, Jane Austen connections and well-regarded festivals.
