General
- Family-run, family-friendly and welcoming site
- Play meadow with bikes and ride-on tractors
- Excellent facilities including free hot showers, shop and barbecues
Kids do love this Somerset site. As do their folks, and other grownups, and sorts who come for nearby Longleat Safari Park or to plunge into the ancient splendours of nearby Bath and Cheddar…
Although it's not a big site, family-run Pitchperfect Camping is perfectly set up for stays – '[we were] looked after better than some 5* hotels' was the verdict of one previous guest – with first-rate facilities, friendly welcoming hosts, and topping views of the surrounding Somerset countryside.
As you'd expect, this is a family-friendly site and has baby bathing and baby changing facilities available among its clean amenities; for childish leisure, there's a big grass meadow for running around in and/or zooming around on bikes or ride-on tractors, and a playground with swings, a slide, a sandpit and a trampoline. A toy box with board games and toys as well as a book swap shelf are also handy if needed.
Site facilities include free hot showers, a family unit also suitable for disabled guests, and a field shelter with washing-up area, two fridges and freezers, a kettle and a toaster. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available for a reasonable charge.
The Pitchperfect shop is small but well stocked, selling local produce including the site's own fresh free-range eggs and home-grown veg, locally produced beer and (a must in these parts), crisp Somerset cider.
The site also has brick barbecues for the free use of anyone who fancies it – because gathering around a grill for a picnic is pretty pitchperfect on holiday too.

However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.

From Bath – heading south
From the A36 heading towards Warminster you will pass the villages of Hinton Charterhouse and later Norton St Phillip. You will enter into the village of Woolverton and pass the Red Lion pub on your left-hand side. There are three right-hand turns - you will need to take the second, towards Lullington (it is on a bend so be careful and indicate early). This road will take you straight to the campsite - you will drive straight over a mini crossroads and pass Sleight Farm on your right-hand side. We are approximately 300 yards from Sleight Farm on the right.
From Frome – heading north
On the A361 heading towards Bath, you will enter onto the A36. There several roundabouts - continue towards Bath. At the final roundabout in Beckington (which has a Texaco petrol station and Little Chef) keep in the left-hand lane to go straight on to Bath - approximately ½ mile down the road you will pass over the river Frome. Past Toll House, turn left towards Laverton. You will approach a mini crossroad. Turn left and go past Sleight Farm on your right hand side. We are approximately 300 yards from Sleight Farm on the right.
Satellite navigation systems will take you to Sleight Farm; please follow directions as above.
Please drive carefully - the country roads are often single track and used by large agricultural vehicles.
Local attractions
Heaps is around to see and do nearby in Bath and the site surrounds, like Longleat Safari Park and Adventure Park six or so miles away and home to over 500 animals roaming 9,000 acres of countryside, and Europe's most famed and rocking old prehistoric monument Stonehenge over the border in Wiltshire.
You might not be too flabbergasted to learn that nearby Somerset spa town and UNESCO World Heritage Site Bath is best known for its baths from the times of togas, including The Roman Baths complex with bathhouse and temple, restaurant and museum.
While you're in town, also have a wander around Bath Abbey, the Jane Austen Centre and, for a dip, to the 2006 opened and council owned Thermae Bath Spa; if you're around in the evenings, have a music, comedy or club night at award-winning Komedia in the former Beau Nash Picture House.
Other visitors to these parts quite rightly make it a mission to delve into the grate sights of Cheddar Caves and Gorge, the splendid limestone gorge grooved into the Mendip Hills, and of Wookey Hole Caves, the vast caverns to the southern side of the hills.
You could also have a day in Bristol, for its museums, galleries, theatres, live music and over 4,000 listed buildings, and one or two in Shepton Mallet, for the many events of the Bath and West Showground.
