Hiking or hacking? Family-run Rosewall is set among the spectacular scenery of the Jurassic Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty five miles east of Weymouth, on the seam of both inland and coastal walking routes and with Rosewall Equestrian riding school on the doorstep for hackers of all abilities.
Of course, you might want to cast off instead at Rosewall’s own fishing lake – the 1.5 acre Wally’s Lake set in a wooden valley with carp, roach, tench and bream to be landed by all levels of angler (you’ll need your licence and to pick up a day ticket at reception or at the stables). You will need all your own equipment including a 36" landing net and a unhooking mat. There are a variety of swims, the south side providing the deeper part of the lake whilst the island end providing shallower water ideal for surface fishing.
Or break out the paintbox: Rosewall has fab views over Osmington Bay and the Dorset countryside, and is in the hamlet of Osmington Mills, set on canvas by Constable on several occasions who spent his honeymoon in the area; it’s a quick scramble from the campsite to the rockpools and beach of Osmington Bay.
Rosewall has a 13-acre camping field with pitches for tents and motorhomes; there are two modern loo and shower blocks with hairdryer and shaver points and washing-up facilities. The park also has a laundry room, shop and disabled facilities. The Smugglers Inn and the Sunray pubs both serve food and are within walking distance.
Families and couples only — no single-sex parties of 3 or more people, stag or hen parties, groups of mixed couples or unaccompanied groups of young people are accepted.

Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.
