General

Set in a secluded six-acre field and surrounded by high hedges, backed by public land and over 100m away from the nearest road or house, we are the closest site to Swanage town centre and its shops. We are located only a seven-minute level walk to the lovely sandy beach.

The camping area is tents only which means no car radios, no early morning engines starting up and no worries about kids and cars in the camping field.

Simple but clean facilities are provided on site: toilets, free hot showers, free use of hairdryers and plugs, and hot water washing-up facilities.

We also recharge your mobiles for one pound although there are 13A sockets for your use for free, but you can blow up your air mattresses, freeze your ice packs and chill in or fridge for free.
Following are the top nine things that set us aside from other sites in the area

We are level. Most of the sites around here are on sides of hills.

We are central - 8 minute walk across the park to beach or town centre - no parking hassles or £8 per day parking fees, (or drink driving issues!) And it is an easy pleasant walk to shops, pubs and restaurants.

The site is a manicured lawn - no more tussocks or flints!

We allow open fires and bar-b-q's by your tent for a real camping experience!

Cars are separate to the camping area - no worries about the kids playing, radios or engine noise.

We free camp meaning you choose where you like to go and can group with friends.

Free facilities - including hot showers, lilo pumping, freezer, fridge and electric points.

We back onto huge playing fields, free adventure playground and skateboard park accessed without having to go on the road - so you can send the kids off for an hour or two worry free!

Quiet site, no electric hook up so no TV next door and we security patrol at night, (and no karaoke bar!)

Maps and information on walks and activities are available in the reception. We are always happy to help you choose what to do with your free time.

Terms and conditions

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

Additional terms

Admission to Swanage Bijou Camping implies a commitment to uphold the rules of the park which set out general standards of conduct and behaviour expected. Any person in breach of these rules may be asked to leave the park with no refund. The warden is entitled to refuse admission when deemed necessary even when a prior booking has been made.

Under normal summer conditions a grass car parking space will be provided as part of your booking (which has been available for every camping day we have opened so far); however, extreme weather is beyond our control and if this were to occur it may be possible that a temporary alternative arrangement for your vehicle may have to be made. Should this eventuality appear likely we shall make reasonable efforts to keep you updated.

All bookings are made in strict compliance of our late noise policy (hushed voices from 10pm near the ablutions, 11pm elsewhere and silence everywhere from midnight), the breaking of which may forfeit both your camping fee and your opportunity to remain on the site.

Please ensure ALL your booking details, including contact details, dates, numbers of vehicles, people, children, under 4s, tents and any other pertinent information like gazebos or additional 'pup' tents are included with any bookings sent to us so we can accurately fulfill your space requirements.

Arrivals are normally between 12am and 9pm. If your arrival will be outside these times please advise us one day before arrival.

No refunds will normally be given for early departure unless special circumstances.

Note: as a courtesy to our neighbours we ask visitors to keep car movements to a minimum.

Access to the camping area is by foot only. We advise you carefully consider the (about) 40 metre walk over rough ground to and from your tent prior to booking and do not recommend this site if you have any member of your group who cannot easily walk this distance in the dark. Ensure you pack a torch!

Swanage Bijou Camping is a family-orientated site; however, we are able to accept single sex and younger groups upon the receipt of a £25 per person 'noise bond' to be paid on arrival.
Our noise policy is hushed voices from 11pm and silence from midnight. We believe this to be only fair to other campers who may be trying to sleep and the bond simply provides a financial incentive for groups to adhere to the noise rules. If all is well, the bond will, and normally is, returned in full at the end of your stay.

Barbecues and small fires are permitted in the vicinity of your tent either off the ground or placed on the off-ground steel trays provided (free but with returnable deposit) by us, but only if attended to at all times, prior to midnight and when weather conditions (not windy or very dry) are suitable.

Cycling and ball games other than golf are not possible (unless small and informal) within the park; however, about 20 acres of adjoining public park land more than adequately caters for these activities with football pitches, free children's adventure playground, a modern skateboard park and dog walking areas.

All campers qualify for one round on our pitch and putt course at half price.

Generators and air conditioners are prohibited.

Campervans and Ccravans are not permitted at the site by law.

Dogs are very welcome but must be on leads at all times (so there is no opportunity for them to do what dogs do without their owner noticing!) and must not foul the site or be left on the site or in cars unattended.

Please recycle whatever you can - it is good for us, good for you and good for your children's world. Recycling buckets and separate hoppers are provided to make it easy peasy!

This might seem a lot of bothersome stuff but really we just want you (and us!) to know what you are getting, how to get it, to enjoy your stay and to be as informed and relaxed as possible!
