  • Lots of water-based activities to do nearby

If your camping destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park, which is an ideal base for exploring Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest. There are sparkling loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well marked-out pitches – clearly these farm folk know what campers want. And canine campers are welcome too.

If you want to sizzle your own sausages, you can exchange gas cylinders on site and there are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, or two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – perfect if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring.

Great site with good facilities and lots to see/do nearby 11/06/2018

We had a pitch overlooking the park so the boys were able to spend most of the time we were on site playing there. They also enjoyed the couple of trips we took up to the play barn at the top of the site.

The pitch was about as far as you could get from the toilet/shower facilities, but was still reasonably close. The facilities were good, clean and well maintained.

There was so much to see and do nearby with Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest all close by. We will definitely be coming back soon to explore some of the things we didn't have time to see this time.

    Disliked:

Whilst it's not something the site owners can control, we weren't fond of the entrance/exit to the site. It is a turning off of a busy 50 mph section of dual carriageway so getting in and out wasn't always the easiest experience.

Very quiet site, probably only 20% full on our 2 night visit. Toilets and showers were modern and clean. Tight security with card entry system (£10 deposit), and no entry for vehicles after 10.30 pm. No shop or bar on site, but 5 minute walk to Lidl, Halfords, and McDonalds. The road outside A31 is a fast and busy dual carraigeway, so if you want to cross the road, either drive, or be born there. All in all, good basic site, fair price per night.

Loved this campsite was so peaceful and quiet, really felt right at home and relaxed. Close to all the necessities everyone needs whilst holidaying. Lidl and McDonald’s just round the corner. Felt very safe on this campsite as it has security and gates are locked at nighttime with only a key card to get on. Will be returning next year for sure!!!

It was great to have a hedge behind our tent ... 04/06/2018

It was great to have a hedge behind our tent so we had shade in the morning.

    Disliked:

As we were only staying for two nights we decided to take our very small tent and a gazebo. Imagine our surprise and disbelief when we were told that we can’t have the gazebo. Their reason for it was that gazebos take too much space. We tried explaining that our tent is really small and there’s enough space for both gazebo and tent on our pitch. We even told them that we have our baby with us and we can’t stay without the gazebo. They just ignored our pleas and refused to listen to us! I have never met anyone this rude. We were appalled by the way they treated us.
At the end we gave in and decided to stay. As we were walking through camp we couldn’t believe our eyes. There were a couple of gazebos put up!

From the manager...

We believe this comment relates to an 'Event Shelter' which is much bigger than a Gazebo. We are afraid that we have guidelines and policies on how many additiol tent like structures can be placed together on one pitch and yours was too big. There are obvious resons for this! Our terms and signage does clearly set out ourpolicy on Gazebo's & Event Shelters. Sadly because the market is being flooded with these large 'Event Shelters' at camping supply shops, members of the public are buying them whilst not aware that many sites do not allow them. We are fairly confident that we are not the only campsite to have these restrictions. We would suggest that your review be read in the light of these facts'

Perfect location to access the new forest and the coast. Site clean and plenty for the children too do. Facilities clean and plentiful, never had to queue for shower or toilet. Had a lovely stay here and would stop again if down that way.

    Disliked:

Only down side was the water in the shower was a little hot for the children. This was easily solved with a small paddling pool in the bottom of the shower filled and allowed to cool slightly.

We are located about 7 miles from Bournemouth and 4 miles west of Ringwood just off the A31. We are just opposite the Texaco petrol station at Pinehurst Road. Look out for our big blue sign in the farm fields on your left as you head towards Ferndown from Ringwood. Local attractions

St Leonards Farm is one of the closest campsites to Bournemouth, with sandy beaches only seven miles away. There’s loads to do nearby if you’re feeling full of beans – try watersports such as windsurfing, sailing or surfing at Bournemouth’s artificial reef, or have at it with some go-karting, dry slope skiing, golf, fishing or horse-riding in the scenic surrounding countryside.

Feeling a bit tired after all that sporty exertion? Take a picnic to nearby Moors Valley Country Park, which has a golf course, cycling routes and outdoor play area, or have a family day out at a plethora of local attractions including Paultons Park, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum and Wimborne Minster Model Town.

Kids will enjoy fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, and if they’re disappointed by not finding a T-rex skeleton right there and then, you can take them along to the Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, then spoil them with a day out at Adventure Wonderland less than three miles from the park. The site is also an ideal stop over point for the Poole or Portsmouth cross channel ferries.
