Dartmoor View

Every thing about this site was just lush no light pollution at night apart from our of the ground fire pit/bbq we could even see plants it was magical skies , clean porter loo level pitches and the owner was so lovely I will definitely be returning

Owner met us on arrival - we were the only ones staying so had the choice of pitches - this is a small site but the views are amazing. Toilet on site was clean. Quiet and peaceful just what we were looking for. We only stayed one night so didn’t explore the area as were on our way to another destination.

Absolutely nothing to dislike.

Fantastic views of Dartmoor in the distance and rolling fields. Each pitch has plenty of space and the ground was good. The host was very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay.

Large pitch area with lovely unspoiled view. Very pleasant owner. No light pollution so open starry skies, quiet, peaceful, gives a feeling of being close to nature. Seems to attract genuine Campers who respect other campers, plenty of space, peace, and although few facilities, very reasonably priced.

Fantastic peaceful location, a hidden gem. Not enough sites like this left. No razzamatzz, just simple, one with nature camping. Ideal getaway spot. Very friendly welcome, will be back.

I spent three nights here in a small tent. I enjoyed the beautiful view and the amazing stars at night. Spacious pitches, all with a view of Dartmoor. The top of each pitch is slightly sloping, so I camped further down and it was level. I found Mary very helpful and friendly. She has two horses, a few sheep and a friendly dog. Full recycling facilities, including food waste was a bonus. One chemical toilet and a water tap. Pub food at the Half Moon Inn in Sheepwash is good and popular, so it is best to book ahead. Some footpaths nearby for pleasant walks and the Tarka Trail is only a couple of miles away. The site is described by others as peaceful, which it is, but it is not quiet! I think if you are inside a van, you will not notice, unlike a tent camper. It is a busy rural area and there is noise from the lanes from tractors, vans and cars, though they are a hundred metres from the field. Also other noises of modern rural life - cockerel, chainsaws, strimmers, for example. In the evening and at night, it is very quiet. I enjoyed my stay and stayed an extra night.

Because this site is on top of a hill, it is quite windy. So it is more suited to small tents. Larger tents could struggle (depending on the wind strength). The hedges are not much help as the prevailing wind comes from the other direction.
