General

  • Peaceful and laidback site among spectacular Devon views
  • A few minutes from Woolacombe
  • Direct access to the Tarka Trail

Wave goodbye to rowdy groups and say hello to a comfortable, quiet and peaceful break at this laidback park: the new owners took over in May 2015 and have drawn deep on their collective 30+ years industry experience along with feedback from guests to assist this little site to evolve into what they reckon is one of the best natural camping sites in the area.

The ethos is to give guests a great camping time on a small peaceful site, and so there are no hidden costs for hot water, wifi or mobile phone charging, and the shops, clubs and launderettes are left to the bigger sites in the area. Good clean shower and toilet facilities and a sheltered washing-up area are always to hand.

Families staying at Bay View are chuffed to be able to sort their own entertainment for kids around the safe play areas and plenty of space to kick a ball or fly a kite. Dogs are (most rightly) also considered full family members here too, so the team has added a large pooch walking area for furballs to run, chase balls and generally roll around.

Bay View Farmers is near the award-winning beach of Woolacombe (1.7 miles to be exact) and has spectacular views over to Lee Bay and up to the Bristol Channel; on a clear day you should be able to see the coastline of Wales. It has direct access to the Tarka Trail and good access into its pitches as it's just down the road from Woolacombe village.

Single-sex bookings of 6 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Do not book groups of pitches to enable families and friends to gather, as this causes a problem with noise. There are many good sites that allow this party atmosphere: this one does not.

Great toilets and hot showers. Close to Woolacoombe beach and Tarka Trail. Fantastic pub opposite with the best carvery ever!!

We were pitched next to a main road which was very noisy. This made it difficult to sleep. In fact we have more peaceful sleeps at home so not what we were expecting.

Very good campsite, well run, organised and clean. Facilities are great and also kept clean. Lawn and site kept tidy, saw work and upkeep tended to daily. Hot shower for dogs and even a field for dogs to play Off lead.

When I arrived I was given a welcome pack with all info I needed.

You need to use their fire pit and echo logs which although is an extra cost was a nice treat. Easy to set up and good quality.

    Disliked:

It's our second stay the woolacombe area is amazing the site is perfectly situated out of the hussle and bussle but close enough to take full advantage . The staff at bayview are really friendly and work tirelessly to keep pitches and shower blocks in top condition which due to the recent weather is a thankless task . We will definitely be booking again .

The location was fabulous for the beach and other areas of interest. We stayed on Pitch 3 with a seaview. Our pitch was so handy being close to the showers, W.C's, washing up facilities and the wetsuit washing areas. All the staff were really courteous and constantly tending to the upkeep of the site. This is the first time I have been camping in many, many years. I stayed with my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren in an 8 berth tent with electric hookup. It was one of the best holiday's I have had in the UK. I was extremely impressed with the shower/W.C. block. It was always being cleaned, there were always showers and toilets available as there are plenty of them and there was always toilet roll in every toilet! There are also wall mounted hair dryers. The little ones liked the little 'park'/recreation area and we all felt completely safe even when we visited the loo in the early hours of the morning. I would highly recommend staying here and will definitely stay again.

    Disliked:

There wasn't anything we could have disliked about staying here. The only niggle we had (but we didn't say anything) was when the van next to us arrived around 10 o'clock at night and the horrendous shouting, screaming and crying that the people made, waking the little ones up and it went on for around an hour & a half until they had settled and had finally got into their van. I think there should be something either in writing or spoken to guests arriving late at night that they keep noise to a minimum and respect that some people are already asleep, especially children. This would be helpful for those who are sleeping.

From the manager...

thank you for your lovely review and am delighted you had a good holiday despite the weather !...we are always torn when people arrive late, we don't encourage it and wish all the arrivals are pitched before dark...but in some cases when things happen beyond anyone's control, such as breakdown etc.and the late guests also have children that need to be settled...we do allow late arrivals, they would have been asked to be respectful of the time and to be mindful of the noise levels, but perhaps in this instance their last nerve had been shredded and they had not realised their impact on you...its not a common occurrence but i am sorry it happened on your stay and we are really pleased you would visit us again.

A lovely well looked after site, very clean showering facilities and friendly staff. We could not fault the site, other than, read disliked comments. Such a shame.

    Disliked:

We had a rather large party pitch next to us, and they were quite noisy well into the night, very loud music. We had decided to come home early because of the weather, just as well because I don't think I could of put up with it for a second night. That's why we didn't complain. Everyone is entitled to enjoy their holiday, but we picked this site because it was advertised as quiet and peaceful. If this had not occurred I would have rated the site more higher. 🙁

From the manager...

thank you for taking the time to review our site and im sorry your stay was blighted by noise, this really bothers us to hear this...we try our best not to allow disturbance and if you had alerted us , we would have dealt with it for you, we ARE a quiet site and this is what we want to promote but we are in the summer holidays and completely full ,sometimes its not as quiet as we all would like....we also have to be respectful of grown ups enjoying their holiday and catching up with friends...trying to maintain a healthy balance of this is proving problematic despite our best efforts....we do take notes of noisy holiday makers and will not allow them to book with us again...we will also review our policy of family groups as well , im sorry you wont be joining us again but your review has helped us to make adjustments so it wont easily happen again.

Beautiful location, friendly staff, lots of taps for clean water.

    Disliked:

We had the muddied pitch and couldn't use it all as stones were thrown over half of it, the pitch (16) was not level, the showers were muddy and not as clean as expected (I looked at many reviews before booking)

From the manager...

good luck with your choice of future camping sites...more to the point good luck to the camp sire owners...you booked a camping pitch, grass...open to all the elements that have been thrown at us this summer, we could have left it unattended, but find it better to help absorb some of the water with a sand mix, once your ground sheet is down and your tent up...you would not of been hindered, and if you think our facilities are dirty your standards are so high maybe a five star hotel and the costs involved would be more suitable....
