Friendly and helpful staff. Allocated a decent level hardstanding pitch. a few of the grass pitches are sloping, so chocks would be essential. Dog and child friendly.

Reasonably well stocked shop, with food and camping accessories. The bar and restaurant are also dog-friendly and the food - although a limited menu -
    was excellent.

    Disliked:

Approach road is narrow with few passing places. In the wet a risk of getting bogged down off the tarmac - be prepared to reverse if necessary!

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this beautiful site, this is our 3rd visit and it just keeps on getting better. Perfect size pitches , hard standings and grass. Toilet and shower block spotlessly clean, plenty of hot water. They do have a bar and restaurant but we have yet to try either. It was a rather wet Easter bank holiday and they provided grip mats for people just pulling onto grass pitches, only campsite I have seen do this. All the staff we have met are friendly and always stop for a chat, nothing is too much trouble. Will be returning sometime in the near future as it is the perfect site for getting on the moors which is out the gates and up the lane and the moors are right there. Tavistock is only a few miles walk one way and Princetown a little further in the opposite direction. The prices are very affordable and it iswell worth a visit. You can have pitches with or without electric hook- up .

Friendly gentleman on reception - he kindly leant us an electric heater for the evening as we were running low on gas. And the scenery was outstanding.

    Disliked:

The on site restaurant was closed when it said it would be open. And the nearest pub was a 50 minute walk away. The bathrooms also weren't heated as it was advertised which made for a very cold shower experience.

Fantastic location, just inside Dartmoor, Tavistock, just a stones throw away. Spacious glamping pods, well heated and lit. Staff lent us a bbq, as nowhere sold disposable ones, due to it being out of season. Nice shower and toilet facilities, good washing up facilities too.

    Disliked:

Maybe have some rubber mats for the decking outside as it can get very slippery in the wet. A blind for the inside small window, to keep the sun out in the early morning.

Directions

From Tavistock, take the B3357 road to Princetown/Two Bridges. After approximately two miles, look for a right-hand turn at a white cottage, and follow our brown tourist signs. Follow the lane and you will shortly go over a cattle grid - up the hill, turn left at the sign and again left at the next junction. We are along the laneway on the right-hand side. Go over our cattle grid and follow the road to the right up the hill to a stop sign.

Do not use satnav if you are towing or in a large vehicle!

Local attractions

Holidaymakers can amble or pedal straight onto the moors from here, and it only takes a few minutes to scramble to the summit of Pew Tor for views for miles around.

As well as the wealth of hiking and biking routes in the area, there are centres for horse riding, canoeing and climbing on Dartmoor, to help visitors make the most of the spectacular landscapes. If you’re feeling brave, you can even go wild swimming... although you may prefer to nip over the border to Cornwall’s beaches to go swimming or surfing.

A 10-minute drive from Langstone Manor is the market town of Tavistock, where there are regular farmers' markets, a cinema and an indoor swimming pool (with waterslides and kids' pool).

For National Trustees, the granite crenellations of Castle Drogo are worth a visit; this Lutyens-designed castle was the last ever built in England, and has lovely gardens and a picturesque outlook over the Teign Gorge. The dramatic waterfalls and ancient woodlands of Lydford Gorge (the deepest gorge in the south west) are not to be missed either, as long as you don’t mind a bit of strenuous walking, or getting your feet wet.

Rainy day suggestions include Plymouth, home to the UK’s biggest aquarium, or an exit to Exeter, a cathedral city bristling with shops and things to do.

Must see

  • Dartmoor Zoological Park (10.2 miles)
  • National Marine Aquarium (12.5 miles)
  • Buckfast Abbey (14.0 miles)

National Trust

  • Buckland Abbey (4.9 miles)
  • Lydford Gorge (6.8 miles)
