General

  • In a Dartmoor wildflower meadow
  • Back to basics site with campfires allowed
  • Bushcraft, yoga, massage and lots more available for guests

Back to basics camping within Dartmoor National Park – but with forest school, bushcraft, tree climbing, yoga, massage, reflexology, martial arts, drumming and kickboxing all available for a reasonable charge on site… you'll like the way Old Mine House rolls.

The amenities here are deliberately basic – there's a shower, flush loo and compost loo but no electric hook-up or dishwashing facilities – and the site is in a wildflower meadow with plenty of room for the kids to run around.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and as you'd expect for a trad camping site, campfires are most surely allowed. Cooked meals are available at an extra charge.

Please note

No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 6 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

The gypsy caravan was in its own space and nicely kitted out. The log burning fire was great on a cold winters night. Plenty of space to chill out and relax away from all the hustle bustle of modern life but still being close enough to towns for food/drink

Welcoming, friendly, fabulously rustic 28/08/2016

Slightly taken aback when we arrived, as not quite what we'd expected - but very much fell in love with the gorgeous house and its ramshackle gardens and its wandering animals. People were very friendly and helpful, and there was lots to explore.

    Disliked:

Sorry to see that much of the equipment was in quite poor condition, but the gripe is a small one as there were so many other things to do!

We stayed in the gypsy caravan and absolutely loved it, it was cosy and comfortable. The outside area was perfectly set up and everything was provided that you needed for a comfortable camping experience. It was perfect for my husband and I to get some well deserved peace from the kids!

    Disliked:

The only slight problem is The bathroom situation, only one toilet/shower room for the whole campsite isn't ideal and must be difficult when its really busy.

Everything about the Old mine house cabin was brilliant. The owners were so lovely and helpful and did not hassle us at all in the week we stayed. The cabin is amazing inside and out. Comfortable double bed and beautiful log burner which kept you toasty of a night. You have every amenity catered for within a woodland environment ( working kitchen including all cooking utensils and cutlery etc needed) There was even an information pack on the local area and things to do. Plus we were welcomed by a lovely home made cake :)

    Disliked:

    Toilet/bathroom separate from cabin area
