General

  • Small peaceful site among the Paignton hills
  • Caravans for hire, all with space for picnic tables
  • Dogs welcome

It's safe to say a bon vista is pretty much guaranteed at this site, as it's set among the Paignton hills with smashing valley views...

Bona Vista Holiday Park has static caravans for hire laid out on a one-acre site, all most carefully sited by the owners to make the most of the surrounding scenery, and with lots of extra little touches by the thoughtful family team. (Tea and milk waiting for you on arrival? Yes please.)

The park is peaceful and car-free (car parking is at the front), leaving a good bit of space around each caravan for picnic tables and lazing about, and all pathways are lit after dark to keep everyone safe and secure. There's a kids' play area, laundry facilities and clothes airers around the site for guests' use; off site, Bona Vista is only a few miles from the beach and close to Paignton Zoo, Quaywest Waterpark and heaps of bon scenic hikes.

And yet more… the Bona Vista amenities have been described by one very happy customer as 'the poshest campsite toilets I have ever seen' and include separate showers and loos for ladies and gents.

Please note

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

The location was great and gave easy access to all of the tourist towns and beaches. The site is small but all caravans are well placed to allow privacy and each have a seating area outside. Great little site! This was a good find for us and our friends as we also took our dogs and found plenty of dog friendly beaches and parks.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming on arrival which made us feel at ease straight away. We would definately visit again.

    Disliked:

We stayed in the one bedroom caravan which was sufficient for us but could do with an update. However, out of all 15 caravans I think it was only two or three that were older, maybe because they were the dog friendly vans.

    Comfortable large living room.
    Comfortable bed with good duvet.
    Ample storage space.
Access to van on foot only, cars in separate parking area, so nice and quiet.
    Grass and site well maintained.
Very friendly owners Pat, Bill and Hazel.
Good folder in van with information about places to visit and including bus timetable.
    Bus stop right outside.

    Disliked:

Not really a dislike, just a comment: van decor somewhat dated. (The owners told us ours was the oldest).
The small bathroom mirror was positioned too high, and we could have done with another shelf in the bathroom and bigger hooks on the door.
Could have done with a light on path round back if van to door, it was a very dark corner.
Wifi almost unobtainable in van, had to hold phone out of window to catch on and it dropped out if you moved an inch!
NB These are very minor and did not detract from our enjoyment.

Set in the Devon Hills this is such a tranquil spot for relaxing. The views are breathtaking.
The staff are friendly which as a family run site is warm and refreshing.
The cararvans are spotless, well maintained and plenty of room on site.
Being very close to Paignton Zoo (5 minute car journey at worst!) and with water parks, go-karting, beaches and other amenities only a short drive away this really is a perfect spot to set up base camp!
Lots of recommendations as well for things to do, so much in fact, you'll have to stay for the whole of the summer holidays to do them!
Will definitely be returning again and again and again.....
Thanks Hazel, Pat and Bill, erm see you next year?!!

    Disliked:

Think someone else mentioned the bus service, which is obviously out of Bon Vista's hands! During the summer season they could put more on.

Small family run site - immaculate accomodation and facilities. 02/09/2016

Felt far more personal than larger corporate run sites. Grounds are well tended, the accommodation is absolutely immaculate and thoroughly equipped, the site is quiet (no cars, the carpark is at the front but only a short walk away) and it's in a convenient location with terrific views.

Worth noting also that there's masses of space, you don't feel that the caravans have been 'jammed in' to maximise capacity so you don't feel overlooked, overcrowded or hemmed in.

    Disliked:

Very little to fault. There's no swimming pool or on site bar, but that's the trade off for being a small friendly family site, not a massive entity jam packed with people. If you want discos and kids screaming on water slides, this probably isn't the place for you. Come for the peace and quiet instead.

Lovely clean and friendly environment. Close to paignton and paignton Zoo. On a main bus route to access other areas such as Torquay, Dartmouth etc. Lovely scenic views of paignton Hills very relaxing holiday. Would definitely recommend.

    Disliked:

If I was to pick something then maybe a swing and slide for little ones wouldn't go a miss coming from a young family. However this is a small family run site not a theme park so it wasn't expected and we kept our children entertained. More of a suggestion then a dislike. Overall everything was fine. Nothing to dislike.

The site is well managed, well looked after and very clean. The caravan was immaculate and as we hired the bed linen the beds were made up ready for us. There was tea, coffee and milk provided, so we could make a drink on arrival before going to the local asda supermarket about a mile away. During our week stay we visited Torquay, Paignton, Totnes, Brixham, Dartmouth and Becky falls so the location was brilliant for us. We had lovely weather during our stay so made use of the outside seating area and clothes lines. The staff we're very polite and helpful. We will definitely return in the future and have recommended bona vista to our family and friends.

    Disliked:

Not really an issue but the Wifi signal was very weak in our caravan. I have given a 5 for facilities and activities as although there is facilities on site we didnt need to use them so cant really comment on them.
