General

  • Secluded single bell tent with forest and waterside views
  • A 20-minute drive from Canonteign Falls and central Exeter
  • Fishing available on site; firepit and outdoor seating provided

Looking for cosy couples’ getaways under canvas? Hassle-free stays in green Devon surrounds are on hand at Sedgewell Farm Glamping, where smart outdoor accommodation and lakeside views make for splendidly soothing hols.

This secluded site is something of a wildlife haven – here you'll have access to uninterrupted vistas of trees, a fishing lake and a small river; nearby woodland trails can also be accessed via a small bridge. Fancy whiling away a day or two by the waterside? Bring a fishing rod and tackle along and try your luck down at the lake.

The plush accommodation is located in a supremely green location on the border between a copse and a meadow; with only a handful of other pitches in a field of almost two acres you should have plenty of space in which to soak up the rural vibes.

The bell tent comes with outdoor furniture and a firepit where you can sit back and take in these rural views (and/or tuck into some self-barbecued bites). Sleeping arrangements come in the form of a comfy double bed (made up and ready for your arrival). Pin back the tent's flaps in the morning if you're looking to wake up to some truly gorgeous vistas.

The tent comes equipped with handy features like a lantern and power bank, while touches like fairy lights, bunting and rugs create a cosy vibe. Facilities like loos, showers and a laundry room are all 10 minutes' walk away on the farm.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.

Please note that the walk to the toilets and showers is steep and the gravel path can sometimes be slippery, so please bring decent footwear with you.

Would recommend due to the location and staff, but beware steep hill.06/08/2020

Beautiful setting, with abundance of wildlife; plenty of bird and bat watching possibilities.

Staff were really helpful, particulalry Jason who gave us a lift down the hill with all our gear.

    Disliked:

The "wildcamping" site is situated at the bottom of a long, steep hill and the only toilet block is sitauted at the main campsite at the top; this means an arduous treck up the hill everytime you want to use the toilets or showers. Apparently they're building anew block, but work was halted due to covid - worth bearing in mind if you have mobility or breathing issues.

Also, the bell tent experience is neither "wild camping" of "glamping"; you get a bed, a BBQ and some fairy lights. A hamper with some plates and utensils would have been nice/useful, and maybe some extra blankets.

We stayed in one of the bell tents in early August. Really enjoyed the posh camping experience, really nice tent with lovely double bed and nice touches (bunting, fairy lights etc). Lovely views and surrounds - not far at all from main road but felt much more remote and natural. Yes, the hill up to the toilets IS very steep and a slight slog but the info given is very clear and TBH it really isn't a big negative (and the steepness of the site adds to the great valley views). Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and lots of space. Price also very reasonable for a glamping experience. Daughter loved the 2 rope swings and the llamas. Would recommend!

Beautiful views, woodland walks, close to Dartmoor and friendly atmosphere. The hill might have been a bit difficult but it doesn’t really matter especially when we were kindly offered a lift with moving our things back up the top. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

One female toilet for the whole site, two showers for the whole site. Unsafe walk to the toilets from the tipi. The tipi was meant to be secluded but instead was at the entrance of a packed field so everyone walked through your small space when coming/going. I paid £65 per night and got really ripped off and unable to get refund. We even left a day early. Shocking. No reception or anyone to find when you first arrive. Slipped countless times walking down the loose gravel hill to get to the tipi in hiking boots

From the manager...

Hi guys, I'm so so sorry you didn't have the experience you were expecting. I did email you once you first booked and explained about the toilets being a good walk away and that the bell tents are in a wild camping field, away from the main campsite. In the wild camping field there is never more than 10 pitches in a nearly 2 acres field (even on a busy summer holidays weekend), so there is still a lot of space. The nearest other bell tent is 7metres away and the other few pitches are all a lot further away. I also emailed you instructions for your arrival and my contact for any problems. I will ensure the description is changed to make clearer exactly all of this. Once again, sorry you did not enjoy, but we have had other guests from other booking companies who have had a great time.
