This site is perfectly located for all the beaches and also for shopping at nearby Kingsbridge. The site is small and the owners very friendly. We were worried about some of the negative comments in the reviews but were relieved when we arrived to see that the owners had made some positive changes in response to those negative reviews.

    Disliked:

The location to the beaches really sold this site to us but it is quirky. If you like large commercial sites with top facilities this is not the site for you as you. There are static caravans on site which does make it look a little messy but whilst we were there some of their owners turned up and were cleaning them up. There is also a wood yard behind the site which starts cutting wood quite early in the morning and also doubled as a gym in the evening. We found the women's toilet facilities clean but my husband thought the men's facilities needed attention.

Very friendly site. Everyone was lovely and chilled and the owners are fantastic. My partner hurt his neck and they were so helpful. The shop is very well stocked and had everything you could ever need. Showers were wonderfully warm and plenty sonyou didn't have to queue. Honestly it was the most chilled out easy stay I have ever had and we can't wait to go back.

Lovely Site. The owners Keith and Karen's are so friendly and helpful, nothing is to much trouble. The site is well located for Totnes, Dartmouth, Paignton and surrounding areas and attractions. After reading some of the reviews on here I was pleasantly surprised to find different such a wonderful site, well maintained, clean facilities, well stocked shop. It was actually nice not to have clubhouses, play areas and pools it encouraged our kids to play outside and with other kids. The site is made up of three quite small fields and the facilities are at the entrance to the site can be reached within 5 minutes from any pitch. The shop has a great supply of sweets, treats, food and drinks as well as things you might have forgotten to pack like bin bags and a lighter for our cooker! and all at very good prices. Most of the pitches are level, ours had a slight slope but not enough to notice. It is fair to say there are residential caravans here and some are old and a bit scruffy but I couldn't recommend this site highly enough, we will definitely use again.

    Disliked:

Nothing! But I'd suggest a proper childrens play area would be nice, maybe an extra shower in the men's and some new shower curtains in the ladies.

I was a bit anxious before arriving at Mounts Farm after reading some reviews on Trip Advisor, specifically criticising the shower/toilet block. I was relieved to be pleasantly surprised! Having come from a campsite with excellent facilities, I still found Mounts Farm to be perfectly adequate. They were clean, tidy and only once did I find myself without toilet roll. If I had any criticism of the showers it is that they're essentially a wet room with little place to put your things, your best bet is to go in as little clothes as possible so you're not having to hang too many things up. The owners were friendly and the shop was well stocked and well priced. The pitches themselves all looked good and the site was clean and tidy aside from a few old caravans that were clearly being stored rather than used.

    Disliked:

The site claims to have a childrens play area which was partly why we chose this site. Despite being there for 5 days, our children didn't manage to locate it.

Local attractions

You’ll find enough to do around Mounts Farm Touring Park to keep you busy for aeons, including sandy beaches, historic houses, gardens, family days out and exploring the towns and villages of Devon.

The park is near the market town of Kingsbridge, which has a market three times a week and a farmers’ market once a month. Kingsbridge’s quay has a tourist information centre and is also where you can take a river cruise to Salcombe, the most southerly town in Devon; arrange a fishing trip or watersports lessons from here or pick up the best of the day’s catch at the local fishmonger.

Both towns are in the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as are nearby Totnes and Dartmouth. Totnes, known for its alternative and independent community (it even introduced its own currency, the Totnes pound, in 2008) is the place to pick up handmade clothing or antiques at its twice-weekly market and has more listed buildings per head of population than any other town in the UK.

In Dartmouth, take the kids on a river cruise along the Dart, have them feeling chuffed on the Dartmouth and Totnes Steam Railway or let them loose at the all-weather Woodlands Family Theme Park, one of the biggest theme parks in the UK.

There are stacks of other family attractions and days out in the area: for wildlife, the Totnes Rare Breeds Farm, the award-winning Pennywell Farm, Paignton Zoo, the National Marine Aquarium and Torquay’s Living Coasts among others, or take a day trip to nearby Dartmoor for pony spotting, waterfalls, walking and more.

Nearby Buckfastleigh has an otter farm and butterfly sanctuary: after you’ve fluttered around there for a bit, take a trip to Buckfast Abbey, home of the famous Buckfast tonic wine and where Rab C Nesbitt staggered to on a pilgrimage from Glasgow.
