Off to Devon for watery pursuits? Mill Park Touring Caravan and Camping Park has a well-stocked private fishing lake on site, and is only a mile or so from the north Devon surf spot of Ilfracombe. Both sand and pebble beaches are also within a short walk – and there's a bar on site too, for chilling out with a cool post-activity beer while looking out over the Mill Park stream. Mill Park is a sheltered site suited to families and couples, in a pretty valley on the north Devon coast and surrounded by woodland for woody walks (yep, dogs are welcome to join in such pursuits too). Want to walk a bit further? The park is close to trails in the Exmoor National Park, as well as the north Devon section of the South West Coast Path. Run out of leg power? A gentle five-minute stroll will land you in the nearest village, Berrynarbor, for a pint in the cosy pub. As well as that fishing lake and the stream-facing bar, facilities at Mill Park include a play area, games room and a launderette. Gas bottle refills and ice pack hire are available and there's also a site shop.

Take your pick from land or sea: Mill Park Touring Caravan and Camping Park is close to excellent Exmoor National Park as well as to plentiful sand and pebble beaches on the north Devon coast. The nearest beach to the park is Combe Martin, a sandy sort ringed with rockpools and edged by Combe Martin village (five minutes' drive), a small seaside resort with plenty of lively pubs and the Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. For a busier beach buzz and some first-rate surf, take your board and self to Ilfracombe, 10 minutes' drive away. Also nearby, the local village of Berrynarbor dates back to the 16th century and has shops, tearooms, restaurants, two pubs and a church with a 15th-century tower and a Norman font.
