General

  • Award-winning site a mile from the beach
  • Pools, pub, fish and chip shop, sauna, steam room and gym
  • Five private fishing lakes: bag a 24-pounder

Anyone who relishes a bit of variety on their holidays should give this award-winning site serious consideration: there are buckets and spades of activities for all ages, both on site and in the immediate vicinity.

Tucked into a valley, and only a mile away from swathes of Blue Flag beaches, Cofton Country Holidays has 80 glorious acres of meadows, orchards and woodland laced with tranquil nature trails for visitors to explore.

Cofton's indoor pool has massage jets and hydrotherapy bubble loungers, as well as a sauna, steam room and gym. A splash area with water jets will entertain the children (a small additional charge applies to the pool, sauna, steam room and gym).

With five private fishing lakes to choose from, there are abundant opportunities to bag a monster carp: 24-pounders are not unknown (an EA rod licence is required plus a fishing permit from reception).

Water babies of all ages will enjoy the heated outdoor swimming pools; after some aquatic exertions, you can retire to the poolside patio of the Swan Inn for a refresher and a snack. The pub opens every night and serves up a good range of grub (breakfast and lunch are also available at weekends), plus regular entertainment including live bands, discos and karaoke. Cofton also has its very own fish and chip joint, as well as a shop for any vittles you might need.

Children can bounce around in the three dedicated play areas or explore the adventure zone in the woods, with activities such as pond-dipping and bug-hunting laid on in season; if it’s raining, there’s also a games room with amusements and a pool table.

Wifi across the whole site means staying connected is simple, and it’s also worth mentioning that Cofton has excellent facilities for disabled visitors.

A fantastic week. Will definitely be returning. 27/07/2017

The cleanliness was second to none and the washing facilities were great. Food was lovely and there was plenty to do. Staff were very helpful and friendly too. Pitches were very spacious and we appreciated being escorted there as opposed to trying to find where we were staying. We will definitely come back again.

    Disliked:

The swan pub didn't offer a cheaper priced lunchtime menu selection.

Had dinner in Julie's pantry every night, as always the food was superb, only gripe is that the menu has been the same for a while now, maybe could do with refreshing slightly.

Everything, the site was clean and well kept. The prices in the shop and pub etc were in line with what you would expect to find in a high street.
A nice walk down to the beach where there is a nice pub by the water front, there is also two pubs a few minutes walk in cockwood.
Not only is the site dog friendly, everywhere we went nearby to the site was also dog friendly including pubs and beaches.
I will definitely be staying here again soon.

    Disliked:

The only thing that wasn't great but not a real issue was the wifi on site.

The swimming pools were quite big. Bars and Arcade were good. Cleanness and tidy site with nice big pitches.

    Disliked:

Minor issues but a bit annoying:
Restaurant burnt toast two days running. Main road noisy if you make the mistake of pitching up too close to that edge of the site. Kids entertainment ok, would have been very good had the audience been able to understand one of the entertainers. N.B. Mark Anthony was very good.

Plenty of facilities for camping, showers and toilets were nice and clean and I never had to wait for a shower, the showers are nice and warm and liked that they are continuous rather than the button you press and lasts a minute. The shop is really well stocked and prices aren't too bad. During our stay we had lunch in the swan, cream tea at Amelias and chips from the take away all of which we really enjoyed. There is so much to do at Cofton on-site but also loads off site including a really nice walk through the woods to Dawlish Warren. Definitely recommend staying here.

    Disliked:

Be in mind if your mobility is poor that some of the pitches are really uphill so request a lower pitch

Local attractions

Wandering just outside the site, the nearby clifftops have pretty walks; there are gentle bike rides around and about; plus beaches and waterways offering more sail-, paddle- and wave-powered action than you can shake a stick at.

Hop on a bus (the stop’s only 100m away) to explore a bit further afield. This corner of Devon is jampacked with things to see and do, including castles, botanic gardens, zoos, aquariums, animal farms, model villages and adventure parks.

Whether it’s the brutal beauty of Dartmoor, the bucolic splendour of England’s highest waterfall, Canonteign Falls, or the attractive bustle of Exeter and Exmouth, there's something for everyone...
