  • Spectacular valley views near the Blackdown Hills
  • Next to a working dairy farm on the edge of the village of Ashill
  • Luxury glamping with ensuite bathrooms in a wildlife haven
Take a gander at the greenery from your prime perch next to a Devon dairy farm at Leafy Fields Glamping – this plush site is set in a wildlife haven, with first-rate views over the Clum valley on the edge of the Blackdown Hills. Soak up the vistas from outside your glamping unit while dining on a hot meal made using your indoor camping kitchen or outdoor firepit. Stacks of wood are available to buy, with cutlery and crockery provided to make dining nice and straightforward. Your accommodation will also include a proper kingsize bed for comfy slumbers and access to an ensuite flushing toilet and shower. Owners Andrew and Dannie have also added further thoughtful touches, spreading quality Devon sheep fleeces on the floors to keep toes cosy, and installing a climbing frame outside for energetic kids to clamber about on. While plenty of room is on site for mini travellers to roam around, the whole of the county’s also their playground when staying here… Diggerland theme park is a 15-minute drive away for JCB-themed adventures, and the 60 or so rides at Crealy Theme Park & Resort's 100 acres of countryside are within half an hour. Back at Leafy Fields Glamping, kids can also amble with the animals – four miniature horses, a group of guinea pigs, a crew of quails and a couple of cats live on the farm.

Local attractions

The area around this site is stacked with cultural, historical and family attractions to check out, including stately homes and their sprawling estates, canals to wander beside, hills to scale and national parks to potter around… Mosey over to the marked trails of Dartmoor and Exmoor, both under 50 minutes away by car, or stay closer to the site with strolls around the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If the coast is calling, it’s a 40-minute drive south to Exmouth’s sandy family-friendly beach, while Sidmouth is 40 minutes away for sunbathing on pebbled shores followed by noseying around the seaside town’s Georgian houses. Turning inland again, urban trips are to be had in Devon’s capital Exeter (35 minutes), where you can admire the intricately designed cathedral and go on subterranean wanders in the city centre’s underground passageways.
