We stayed in one of the safari lodges. The layout was very practical with some great features for everyone. The children loved the little playroom and the adults loved the wonderful views from the spacious balcony which caught the evening sun. Having the bolted gate on the balcony kept it safe for the children whilst we enjoyed our relaxation. The site was small and friendly and it was reassuring to have a locked gate on the entrance (for which we had a key to come and go) to prevent children from going out on the country lane. There were two playrooms in the stable block and a handy little shop.
The owners were very friendly, catering to our every need. Thanks. We enjoyed the experience and the luxury of the lodge.

    Disliked:

Nothing - even the weather was kind.

We loved the tent we stayed in. It was very neat and spacious. There was 4 of us in there and we all felt comfortable. It's nice that they put a double bed in there and mattresses because it gave us a choice of where to sleep, some of us prefer to sleep high.

Another thing we loved was the bathroom. It is brand new with a shower that lights up. The water pressure in the shower was perfect, the stream of water flowing was strong as it should be. Towel hangers were useful to the four of us.

They also have a mini shop on site which usb helpful if you forget some stuff like we forgot to buy sugar and washing up liquid. They have some other stuff in the shop also.

We also loved the owners Andrew and Dannie. Both were very accommodating and made our first camping trip unforgettably amazing :D

Dannie also knows about local activities so it is a good idea to ask her beforehand, we went kayaking with Rob and loved it! There are also some leaflets of activities inside tent if you don't get to arrange anything beforehand

We stayed in the safari tents a few weeks ago with out 3 young children (9,3,2months) I loved how safe it felt and the children were allowed to roam free without worrying about roads or cars .
The safari tent was amazing I cannot recommend it enough ! It had a luxury bathroom and kitchen which is better than mine at home !
The beds were super comfortable and there was an overall feeling of calm for the whole weekend .
We were left to come and go as we pleased with the friendly hosts around if we needed them but didn't intrude (our kids enjoyed playing with their kids too !)
Nearby we visited some rivers and the lovely shop in culmstock for food .

Luxury glamping with high quality finishing and personal touches 19/06/2017

The site itself is not huge which was a bonus but is large enough to allow the kids to roam free, almost constantly within eye shot or ear shot so we could relax on the balcony in peace. With the site being totally surrounded by fence and hedges and protected by huge wooden gates we could also be confident the kids and our belongings were safe. The owners don't live on site but they provide a key for the gate during the night and they are only a short drive away and available by mobile in an emergency. The site is very much a family place with a great deal of focus on catering for families with children on the autistic spectrum as this is something of personal relevance to the owners. The owner Andrew is a very friendly chap and seems to be on a personal mission to create something amazing for families with kids.
Leafy Fields is next door to a working dairy farm and whilst you can hear the early(ish) morning routine from next door this didn't bother us and I and our daughters slept through it anyway. The rest of the time you could hear nothing but the bleating of a couple of sheep in the adjacent field and mooing of cows from the other side. Oh and a periodic whiff in the air to remind you that you are in the countryside. Overall It is a very rural and quiet site.
As for facilities there is a small shop, open during the day which is stocked with a few essentials (such as ice cream, sweets and tomato ketchup!). There is a utility room with coin operated washing machines and tumble dryers as well as a coin operated phone (for those who remember those) although between us we had phones and tablets on EE, O2 and Vodafone and we could get a very strong signal - good enough to stream live TV so despite being in the sticks the mobile signal was actually pretty good. We didn't need to use the toilets or showers so I can't comment on these. Other than that there is clearly lots of work going on around the site but this is all fenced off and safe so didn't affect our stay in the slightest. There is a small pub about 1/3 mile down the road which apparently serves nice food (although we didn't go in) and a co-op about 5-10 minutes drive away or a large Tesco about 20 mins and a Costa and Burger King half way to Tesco.
We stayed in one of the safari tents at the top of the site. These tents are huge (sleep up to 8) and there is absolutely no expense spared - they are really high quality and very well finished inside. There are lots of personal touches from the owner making the experience absolutely 1st class. This is very much luxury glamping. Photo's don't do this tent justice - it is huge with a king size bed, 4 bunk beds and another king size in a cubby hole up a small ladder which the kids loved as they can close the door and get some privacy. The beds are all rock solid and so the bunks would easily support adults. There is a bathroom with sink with hot and cold water on demand, proper toilet (all plumbed in like at home) and an excellent, luxury power shower cubicle with all sorts of fancy ways of getting wet from various nozzles. jets and shower heads. The kitchen area has an induction hob, small fridge, sink and all of the utensils and cutlery you would need for your stay - even washing-up liquid, tea and coffee. You wont need to bring anything from home except something to eat and drink of course!. There is a big table which seats 6 and two sofas inside as well as two chairs on the balcony and a small table. There is also a small kids playroom/den under the cubby hole and plenty of boxes and shelving for storage etc as well as a small electric heater should the temperature drop at night. It is all very tastefully finished. Outside is a big deck and a wood burner for cooler nights as well as a very solid picnic table. There is parking right next to the tent with enough room for two cars if necessary. All in all this is a fantastic tent and looks like no expense has been spared with the quality inside or outside.

Three of us (two adults and a 9 year old) have just spent a fabulous 5 days at the Leafy Fields glamping site in Ashill, We stayed in a beautifully adorned bell tent which was very generously decked out with a hamper of crockery, cooking utensils, extra blankets, beds with duvets, plenty of led and solar lights and very cosy rugs. It was extremely comfortable and the tent was warm even when a chilly wind picked up. The fire pit is a brilliant part of the experience too and with the wood provided by the owners (at cost) it was an easy and fun part of our evening entertainment.

The site itself is very well maintained and the toilet and shower next to the tent was both convenient and impressive - a very enjoyable showering experience! Security is very good too with the gates always locked with a combination padlock. It felt very safe (as 3 women camping alone)

The owners are very friendly and extremely helpful and their family are a joy - my 9 year old very much enjoyed having some playmates. The miniature horses on site are also a big plus as my 9 year old is horse mad and she was allowed to see them and stroke theme whenever the owners were on site.

We will be back for sure - as soon as we can!
